Here's your chance to voice your opinion. I'd appreciate it if before you describe why you dislike GTC you begin with NO WAY or if you're one of the very few who has no issue with it please start with OK. It just makes it easier to see what the percentage is.

NO WAY!
I rotate 2,000 collectible (quantity 1) listings thru my 1,000 listing store; therefore, GTC will create much more effort for me since I have to track which listings to stop before they automatically roll-over. The GarageSale application will help me do this extra work, but more important this procedure will cost me some of those sales I make when people search for "ending soonest," which account for ⅓ of my sales. So I downgraded my store from Premium (1,000) listings to Basic (250 listings) and plan to downgrade further to a Starter Store (100 listings) and only post expensive items that I don't mind GTC rolling over. Unfortunately my new approach will bring less eyeballs to my store and probably a few less eyeballs to the eBay site. One big complaint is how poorly eBay mgmt handled this policy change as well as the lack of information and inconsistency coming from eBay staffers. You'd think they'd get everyone on the same page before making such a drastic and unnecessary change.

Agree with most of what you say although I don't like the extra work GTC entails to remove listings before they roll-over. My complaint is that by removing listings before they expire, I'm losing the search engine value of "ending soonest," which accounts for a large percentage of my sales.
When a batch of items first lists, I get a bunch of sales & when a batch of items are ending, I get a bunch of sales. I hate tampering with those ending items which could cost potential sales.
In fact I was about to bump up to an anchor store so I could run 7 days listings for all my items, starting and stopping them on weekends. Obviously I've changed my plans.

OK.
Most of what I sell are things that require the right buyer, so it's to my benefit to have a stable link that can help people find my listings either via Google or social media. The fact that most of my items sell in the middle of their listing duration tells me that people find my things because they're specifically looking for them, meaning that anything that makes it easier for people to find them will only help me. I also won't be losing several hours of exposure every time something I want to keep listed ends while I'm at work or asleep. It will be less work for me overall as I generally choose to keep the majority of my items listed and only end a few that aren't getting much attention.

I don't like it!

NO WAY ... Will not list GTC, will not pay for a store, do NOT want it AT ALL. I jump through enough hoops selling here already, don't want to babysit listings more than I already do, and pay enough in final value, shipping, and PayPal fees. NO THANKS!!!

This is a death blow for my business model. I sell one off very high end (mostly) iPhones..My strategy that WORKED perfectly was always to use a 3 day BIN starting on Saturday Morning, and ending on Tuesday morning. This was perfect because most of my buyers shop on the weekends, and the URGENCY that was created using the 3 day BIN was awesome, very powerful.
(using this ^^^ as an example; not picking on click2buy )
Someone please explain to me the difference between keeping track of 3-day listings, then relisting the unsolds after 3 days versus keeping track of what listings renew every 30 days? Isn't it still time spent managing listings, either way?
Someone else said (somewhere - I can't keep track of all of the threads and posts) that GTC automatic renewals would cost her/him lots of money. But this same seller used 7- or 10-day listings and immediately relisted unsolds. Doesn't that cost a lot of money and/or use up "free" listings very quickly?
Something else I meant to say here but I have a headache ... I'll think of it later.

I don't think there is any choice if you want to keep selling fixed priced items on eBay...

The small consistent sellers with 200 to 500 listings each month consistently are stressed about this change. We often have full time job beside selling on eBay. we do not have time to monitor and strategy dates and times to cancel listings to avoid GTC relisting charges,
I think I'm going to keep beeping this horn; I've found my niche ! If someone has 200 to 500 listings each month, how did that seller get those widgets listed? Free listings? Paid an insertion fee? Went over free listings allotment and paid some insertion fees? Kept excellent track of all listings (more organized than I) in order to always be at the lowest cost possible? That isn't going to change, is it?
I'm a small seller and I am not stressed about this change because I can't do anything about it. I'm not happy about it but I will adjust. Or leave, because I can't afford large promoted listings fees and I can't afford to be the lowest priced.
Ebay will reconsider the GTC requirement only if it's a colossal fail but we're probably stuck with it through Q2 so those "oh oops fees" can be entered in the books.
I've never used GTC. Other than at the beginning of this adventure when everyone ran auctions, I've always used 30-day FP IPR (still very occasionally run an auction but I am so snakebit using that format). I have no way of knowing what GTC format is going to do to my sales.
I change up inventory categories so I can't say the widgets that sold in 2008 suddenly hit rock bottom because I don't sell those types of widgets anymore. I won't be able to say, "I regularly sold 2,863 blue widgets, every year for 10 years, until this GTC thing started."
Although for a very long time I had around 700+ listings, now I'm a small seller, anywhere from 75 - 200 listings at one time. I don't list any $5 items so I'm not qualified to speak to that fee renewal issue. I didn't realize, until reading these threads, how many people used 3-,5-,7-,10-day listings and kept relisting the unsolds after those short time spans. Which adds to the ginormous amount of listings here.
This is a fact and it's a cruel one but it's true: Ebay doesn't care if a seller has another job or other issues that limit the time that can be spent working on things here. I don't think that should be ebay's problem, either. It's up to every seller to figure out how to do this selling thing, here or elsewhere.

so if everyone is going to be ending listings before they renew - how is that going to help out with the Google recognition thing? I don't get it. If I have an item that got 2 views in 30 days because ebay hid it - it's not the right season - the price was wrong - I need a better description - whatever I'm ending that piece. I'll relist something else - something new. So if google had picked it up it's now a dead end right? Isn't that what ebay wants to avoid? So I have a premium store with inventory hovering around 950 items - if their all GTC and constantly renew how do I keep sorting out the dead wood and adding new items? Answer - I can't. I am now forced to end those listings to add new product. What about seasonal things? I think this is all going to be a big PITA. Still wishing for the middle tier between premium and anchor - Castle - disregard that last sentence - I know you know.

@ms.rodriguez* wrote:All of you folks that like GTC obviously have a store or very DEEEEEEEEEEP pockets. I have 400 items now on 1 acct. thanks to a recent big promo. No way , do I want them to relist. I am not going to get a store either. It's a money grab. Also I don't want an item that did not sell to relist at the same time. I would rather hold it a few days and then if it didn't sell in an ad that ended at 8 am EST, I will relist it to end at a later time hoping to get a buyer that is looking for that item.
I dont want folks to see an item relist and relist . People will realize it and not even look to see what else you have to sell.
Many of those who like GTC have been using it for years so this is not a change to them. It may not mean they have deep pockets~as they may just be using their free listings, and when they roll over, they are still free.

NO WAY
I tried the GTC for a while because it was easier. BUT my sales dropped because my items where never at the top when people searched newly listed. I sell used items and I have found that my sales go up when there are newly listed items. the farther down they go the less likely someone will see them. My sales went up by almost 30% when I went back to 30 day listings. And why do they keep fixing things that are not broken? Fix the broken things then work on the other stuff.

Ebay has got to be the absolute worst company when it comes to having a site with tons of issues, but instead of addressing the truly broken things, they try to fix the things that weren't broken, and then of course break them.
They've been doing this for years. Thats why its hard for me to feel bad for them. They themselves, destroyed the site. The management is and has been 100% inept for years. They literally have no clue what they are doing.

NO WAY .. I Have Had 1 Lousy Sale in a Week When I usually have Many.. My Ebay Store Has Flatlined.. I am at a Loss what to do.. I AM NOT A HOBBY SELLER I Spent 11 Years Building My LIVELYHOOD BUSINESS only to Have it Not even on Basic Life Support in a Weeks Time. NO GTC NO GTC Mandate, Make It Optional For Store Owners... Unless you are in a Big Bulk Store, I have Been on Here for Years it is My Sole Living I Have an Ebay Anchor Store. I have 2300 Items Antiques and Collectibles Tried to Take a Few Of My 7 Day Listings when I Relisted them they went to GTC Automatically, I tried to Make them Auctions with a Buy Now Price for 7 Days. But Guess What I Was Told My Start Price Had to be 30% lower than the Buy It Now Price... Plus Auctions EVEN with a Store Subscription COST Me To List even though With My Store Subscription, I get 1000 Free Auctions Listings But Only in Catagories I Don't sell in. So I Have to Pay to Run an Auction. And they are Dictating How Much Can Be Between Start of Auction and Buy it Now. Talk about Losing Money. This Whole Mess is Disheartening. Any Listings I Had on GTC Have Many Watchers for about a Year. 80% of My Income was on 7 Day Listings. A Few Bought off of GTC But Not Enough to Even Pay My Rent. I Have Weathered all the STUPID Changes Ebay has ever done, But This One Is Not What My Store Subscription Stated when I Signed up for it Nor Renewed it. When This is your Sole Living This Is Not even Good. The GTC and Showing an Item Out Of Stock Does NOT work for Antiques and Collectibles. I Have only 1 of any Item and will never have more of the same. I have Now Only Had 1 sale in 4 Days Since Ebay Changed all my listings to GTC who can Live on or Pay Ebay with a $70 Sale a Week. I feel This was a Way to Take away any Shred of Hope for Sellers Like Me. I am a Buyer also and If I Don't sell I Don't Buy Pretty Simple..I Have Many GTC Listings with Many Watchers But They Have Been Watching forever, I Think Most Buyers Forget they are Watching the GTC Listings because they Have FOREVER to Buy Them. WHAT A JOKE!! What Happened to Free Enterprise and Running Your Business Model with What Works...My Anchor Store Subscription Costs me $300 Mo. Shouldn't I Have the Freedom to run 7 Day Listings and Shake Things up a Bit. Ebay Was Founded on The Antique and Collectible Market. Ebays Changes WORK for Bulk Sellers Selling New Items But Not For the Antiques and Collectibles Catagories. WAKE UP EBAY YOU ARE NOT AMAZON!!!!!!! Where By the Way I NEVER SHOP. I have Been Browsing today, Very Few Antique and Collectible Auctions are Being Bid on and the Few Sellers I have Communicated with are Struggling to even Make a Sale.. GOOD JOB EBAY! Do You Realize if you Make Your Site Seller Friendly Like it Used to Be You WILL Have More Buyers. I Have Worked My Tail Off. I Find the Items to Sell I Picture them i List Them I Box and Physically Go Ship Them, I Care About My Buyers!!! I Believe in the Old Fashioned Ethic of CUSTOMER SERVICE. I Used to Jump Up in The Morning to See What sold to get My Boxing Done. This whole week I Can Hardly Get out of Bed because I Know there are No Questions about an Item or a Sale... You may Say Well it's Just Business!!! No It Is Not when It is Your Sole Living. I Built My Business from Nothing 11 years ago, and a Year Ago was Making Double What I Made so Far in the Beginning of this Year with All the Changes.. SELLERS ARE NOT DUMB! Anytime Ebay Says Something will Help Sellers Sell More, I Know it is a COMPLETE FALSEHOOD. Because I have Weathered Many Changes They Said would Help Sellers which NEVER DID and They Changed it Back. PLEASE EBAY WAKE UP AND RESEND THE GTC MANDATE NOW BEFORE YOU LOSE MANY GOOD SELLERS. I NEVER BUY NEW THINGS ON EBAY EVER, AND ALOT OF PEOPLE DON'T. OR ONLY MANDATE the GTC For BULK SELLERS!!!! The People Who Made That rule have Obviously Never Had to Make their Living online. And Don't Know WHAT REALLY WORKS in the REAL WORLD OF SELLING. Ebay WAS and STILL IS A VENUE!!! Quit the Big Brother Control, I WORK FOR ME NOT EBAY But My Working for Me BENEFITS EBAY.
