GOOD TIL CANCELED A VERY BAD IDEA

I have never posted a thread before until now. This idea has to be one of EBAY's worst ever.

we constantly are running 7 and 10 days auctions and re-listing them. Simply because of the

fact that people see an item, put it in their watch list, and we always get lots of action the last

24-48 hours before it ends. And if they miss it, sometimes they come back to the new listing

when we start it back up. WOW, this is a really dumb idea.....do you hear me EBAY??

Please send some feedback, whether you agree or not....I'm talking to sellers like me.

Thank you!        P.S.         I could live with -one-  other option like 10 day or 15 day.

Re: GOOD TIL CANCELED A VERY BAD IDEA

This was my message to Ebay not that they care at all.

I DO NOT WANT GOOD ‘TIL CANCELLED. THAT DOES NOT HELP ME SELL ITEMS. IT HELPS YOU CONTINUE TO CHARGE ME FOR RELISTING EVERY ITEM I HAVE UNLESS I MAKE SURE I JUMP ON AND CANCEL THEM AT THE LaST MINUTE BEFORE YOU RECHARGE ME A LISTING FEE. I CAN’T BE ON EBAY 24/7. KNOWING MY ITEMS END AFTER 30 DAYS AND I CAN DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT I WANT TO RELIST THEM WORKS FOR ME. MAKING IT SOUND LIKE YOU ARE DOING THIS TO HELP THE SELLER IS OUTRIGHT BULL! iF THIS POLICY IS NOT CHANGED i WILL FIND OTHER AVENUES TO SELL MY ITEMS. I HAVE BEEN WITH EBAY 20 YEARS MAYBE ITS TIME TO MOVE ON!

F'in eBay AGAIN makes a change that primarily benefits them by collecting more relisting fees.  This bullsheet has been going on for years now, and it just makes me less interested in selling on eBay.  You just get tired of all the eBay crappp and them constantly nickel diming us sellers....just not fun any more!

Ching-Ching! Alot of people have wrote more elaborate posts about the disgust with these changes but if you were to sum it all up THIS is exactly how people feel about Ebay.......and this is the reason Ebay is dying

Re: GOOD TIL CANCELED A VERY BAD IDEA

Having the option to list with 3, 5, 7, and 10 has always worked the best for me.  As a mom of two kids, many times I needed the flexibility to list around school breaks.  The new GTC listings do not work for me at all.  Instead of listing about 50 items a month, I have only ONE GTC listing right now, and that one will be ended before my kids' spring break next week.  Ebay is making next to nothing off of my one listing, versus my usual 50 or so listings.  If eBay is forcing us to use GTC, they could at least offer the ability for us to put listings on "vacation" like they do in eBay stores, instead of having to list then cancel, then list then cancel....  Just too much trouble for me.

Re: GOOD TIL CANCELED A VERY BAD IDEA

I Completely Agree!! Obviously this is not a move to benefit us the sellers. It is only so eBay can automatically charge you extra fees when listings renew themselves and you have already topped your monthly listings (if you have a store subscription. eBay is making all the wrong choices, because this site is supposed to be for regular people and smaller businesses trying to sell here. eBay is NOT Amazzon. At this point they will lose a lot of sellers that are the heart of eBay.

That happened years ago. This place is a carcass of what it used to be. Its akin to using Myspace and shopping at Sears

Re: GOOD TIL CANCELED A VERY BAD IDEA

GTC was good till a year ago they changed how they are sorted in search results. In the past when the listing relisted they used the relist date which put it back in the top of the search results when sorted by newly listed. Now they use the original listing date. This gives items listed in the last 30 days better search results. Then after the last 30 days the GTC items are shown in order by original listing date. This mean the longer your items are in GTC the further they get buried. Their whole premises that this will be good for sellers is not true as over time new buyers will not be able to find your items unless they do specific word searched. This gives drop shippers listing new items the advantage over used items from individual sellers. The drop shippers are listing sale items with limited quantities so their items usually sell out or the price goes up causing them to end their listings before the 30 day period. Combined with the guarantied shipping program which mainly helps drop shippers relisting amazon prime items your items will slowly become less visible and the only people who will be able to find them will be the watchers. After 30 days these watchers are usually other sellers with similar items or a buyer who has found a different item or changed their mind and not cleared their watch list. This whole idea screams of someone wanting to tanks sells of used items so they can claim new items made from impulse purchases on cell phones is all that is selling.

Re: GOOD TIL CANCELED A VERY BAD IDEA

Also totally agree with all of above. We do not want to use GTC or use auction. So I guess we quit ebay.

Re: GOOD TIL CANCELED A VERY BAD IDEA

Buyers will keep putting off buying as there is no deadline. It is a little different if they know the listing is going to sell in a few days. Then with the automatic relisting we will have to spend more time monitoring what is relisted instead of choosing the items to relist. This policy stinks.

Re: GOOD TIL CANCELED A VERY BAD IDEA

I totally agree with you and am in the same boat, I rotate my inventory every month, if it doesn't sell I try something else.  I did come across a suggestion though that makes sense, i saw that you can bulk set quantities to zero to "pause" the item and then set it back to a normal quantity to resume it.  It's not a perfect solution but it might work, and it will actually be kind of helpful for those of us that have to type a different description for each item.

Re: GOOD TIL CANCELED A VERY BAD IDEA

Horrible plan!

This was the first Sunday that I had NO SALE in 2 years! all due to being forced to list GTC. Without going into a long sob story, I am sick and use my sales to help with expenses. I sell mostly single used items and have found Selling with a 7 day time frame ending on Sunday made for more views, likes and sales. Many Buyers especially those looking for unique antique items will often Search ‘Ending Soonest’...

On a weekend when most Buyers are shopping... will now not see my items unless they happen to end on a weekend or they search for the exact item I’m selling. I’m very upset this is happening. I would think eBay  would WANT more sales as the Final Value Fee would be more than a relisting fee from small Sellers.

Re: GOOD TIL CANCELED A VERY BAD IDEA

The new GTC policy caused me, for the first in 20 years of selling on eBay, to write forum threads and make negative comments. I've always blindly accepted policy and feature changes because obviously the Internet market place continues to evolve.

As well, I had no sales over the weekend, for the first time ever. Truly, I have to radically rethink my store strategy and workflow process to cope with the fact that I have to stop ads before they roll-over.  As I juggle many more than 1,000 listings at the Premium Level, GTC adds simply too much extra work to make continuing a store worthwhile.
