I had Top Seller level for years, but was not able to meet the sales volume lately-not even 100 sales in 12 months! Only 3 sales in the whole month.
The sales numbers keep dropping, my average sale amount was around $2.5-3K, now it is $120-including sales tax, shipping, ebay fees, other ebay fees.
This is really shocking.

You want $300 for a AmEx Expired Card but there are others shown ON YOUR LISTING for $80 or so... PLUS you want $7.95 for shipping? Why not Free for a $300 purchase?

Honestly I would say that's probably the biggest sales killer right there. No one is going to pay $7.95 for shipping something that can be shipped for $4 or less.

I was selling pretty much the same stuff before 🙂
I could see the numbers dropping even to $700-$1k given the inflation and other issues, but to $120? It is not me, it`s ebay 😄

For clothing sales, when my sales drop I look at what I'm selling - dollars to doughnuts there's just way too much of it here or it's a brand that simply doesn't go anywhere here, or I've priced it too high.

I am not sure what AmEx card for $300 we are talking about, the most expensive AmEx card I have is $59.99 with shipping (I believe $4.95-when ebay takes 15% or so in shipping fees and tax on $4.95, then you pay around $4.19 to ship it by First class, then padded envelope, label...-I think it is a very reasonable shipping cost.
How about talking about other items I have for sale? Fragrances, bath & body, other collectibles...?

Yet my sales tripled in March alone?
It's not eBay.
The shocking truth is: It's you and your items.
Either
a.) People don't want them
b.) your too expensive (and people are DEFINITELY going to 'shop pricing' before purchasing- so, they don't "want" them
c.) Your 'category' is now flooded (there are probably 3x the amount of people selling online since the pandemic forced many to try 'something else' to make a buck
You have to spend time first- being #1 in pricing and #2 finding out 'how many of those 'thingies' I'm selling are other selling?
Like I said- the first thing I seen was a card that others sell for 75% less and you even want "shipping $" for a $300 super light item?

I don`t buy new clothing inventory, just sell what is left, I know it is oversaturated here, plus clothing sold better on Posh-buyers come there mostly for clothing.

Ironically, I sold more on Bonanza lately-that was never the case, that platform was pretty dead all the years-hardly ever any sales. I don`t know if they are doing something different with new ownership or just my luck.

These are the first two cards that showed up for me when looking at your listings:
If I were looking to buy, I would have hit the back button at that point.

These are not AmEx cards. Do you collect expired cards?

I can't sell the same stuff I sold before (clothing) - it's always changing.
People are spending money, there's no doubt. I still say look at what you're offering and see if it's still relevant. Also, different things sell better different places, and that HAS changed.

Totally agree with you.

I don't, but I do know what things cost to ship. If a buyer thinks that a shipping price for an item is too high, they will look elsewhere.
In the case of the Ritz Carlton card, there is someone selling it for $149.99 with $5.05 shipping. Theirs is also shown in the packaging, which I would imagine would be a draw for people who collect that sort of thing.

Those cards mostly get sold to international buyers, and the seller you are referring to sells only to the US buyers. That explains his low price and low shipping cost.
