Forced Good Till Cancelled listing for the fixed priced items. NO 30 DAYS OPTION ANYMORE

Ladies and gentlemens, I present you the latest stupidity from ebay headquarters:

,,Good 'Til Cancelled
To help you sell your item, fixed price listings can only be listed with a Good 'Til Cancelled duration. Listings renew automatically every 30 days, based on the listing terms at that time, until all quantities sell or the listing ends. Each time a listing renews and when an item sells, you’ll be charged applicable fees."

My fellow  ebayers, that's how communism works. They will harm you and they will say it's for your own good and protection. Get it? You can not have a bike accident if we break your legs. That's ebay's direction right now.

I do have a very good reason, why I am not choosing that option, good till cancelled. A logical, objective and very useful reason.

Very frustrating and humiliating. Do you remember the decision from last year,  when you couldn't start the promotion sales? Well, this falls in the same category of stupidity. What was very sad and disgusting was the fact that they didn't even had the dignity to admit the huge mistake, after 2-3 months, when the sales went down and they have started to loose a lot of money, they have revert the change and came up with a lame announcement ,,We heard your feedback and we understand the enforcement was a challenge for sellers providing value to our customers." That's total **bleep** in your face, they actually lost a lot of money, that's why they change it back. If I, as a seller, have lost money, ebay also did. PERIOD

Another frustrating thing, is that I feel like a lab rat, being experimented on.

Will call customer service later and see what can be done, IF it can be done. I have zero hopes since that's how communism works, their is no options, you just have to obey ....

Best regards,
Flo

Re: Forced Good Till Cancelled listing for the fixed priced items. NO 30 DAYS OPTION ANYMORE

One other important note; as a buyer, and I do buy on ebay, when I see a listing with no end date, I am in no rush to purchase. There is no incentive to buy right away. That is the main reason why the GTC is such a terrible selling tool.  You lose all of those impatient buyers, of which are many! And there are also many impulse buyers who have to get it before the next guy does. Having an end date forces them to make a decision. With no end date, there's no rush, they think about it and then eventually forget about it. I have several booths in an antique store and I see that kind of mentality all of the time. The customers who have to think about it and say they'll be back, rarely come back. So if ebay would look at this from a buyer's perspective, they might appreciate where we are coming from. It might work for many people, but we would also lose a great many more potential customers. Having GTC as an option is a win for EVERYONE.

That is another valid point/argument, that can be added to the BIG list of valid points/arguments, why the 30 days cycle is so perfect and having it as an option, allows more flexibility every type of seller......

Ladies and Gentlemen, Its time to jump off this dying Carcus " called ebay" !!

All comments above are correct what EBAY is doing is bad for sellers! Period!!

Walmart 3rd party is available all you need is a tax id #

I read an article EBAY has .08 percent of the E commerce USA market, Amazon has 36 percent. I know by now Walmart is beyond EBAY in this category. Its as if they are trying to go out of business!! I have been looking into other online sellers i highly recommend everybody call them complain, complain, and if nothing changes get your pictures somewhere safe and look for another online entity.

There is also another selling website called Mercari.com.  Should be worth checking out.

I hope that it is experimental and it fails and they revert to the old system. Most of my listings don't work as auction, and keeping track of the 30 day renewals before they use more of my monthly allotment is cumbersome. Or.... they can up the monthly fee listings, and have more extra free listings promotions, which would be helpful.
The one positive that I possibly see is that when eBay was new, and truly an auction site, it was more fun, more interesting, the bidding was more active, and there was more interesting stuff listed. Maybe it can refresh itself.

Mercari------just tried it---terrible search capabilities--didn't respond with even close to what I was searching for. Wasted 10 minutes with a simple search. Nothing useful came up---only unrelated things.

Re: Forced Good Till Cancelled listing for the fixed priced items. NO 30 DAYS OPTION ANYMORE

I thought of that also. The only reason is . To try and push the bid on sellers. It is not going to work. E bay in my view in last 6 years. Have just added a lot of really. Unjust rules for its sellers. I have so many issues would sound like a huge rattle.  I hope buyer s understand. BUY NOW. The internet sales tax will be growing. I am not sure if I will stick around to see it.  To be buying as much anyway. I feel so sorry for the 3 States that is charging it now. E bay done adopted this stupid new removal of a option.  That just removes strategies from its sellers.  E bay gets me again.  I hope you and all the very best. Here in community.  Honest $ is getting harder to get.

Whether sellers leave or not, eBay will never change the GTC.  I am sure that they need the money, with only 1% growth.    It works for some, but those of us who sell single items it doesn't work.

When they give out the Free Listing Sales for 100 or 200, there is the "TRAP."  The items will relist if you don't end them on day 29 and eBay will have a windfall from your account.  $.35 x 200 = $70.00  -  I can't wait to see the selling board when people get hit with that $70 bill!

This company is conform or you will be ousted and it will cost you more.  Just like socialism, rob from the people and when the money runs, out you will be begging for sales.

Today was the first time I went to relist buy it now items and was forced to Good 'til Cancel. Just want ebay to know I cancelled most of my relistings.

I do not need the hassle of having to cancel listings so I can manage items. I use auctions, Buy it now and Buy it now with best offer. To change a listing from one to the other now I will have to keep track of all dates and that is bull.

Re: Forced Good Till Cancelled listing for the fixed priced items. NO 30 DAYS OPTION ANYMORE

I don't understand the reasoning behind the new 30 day listings either?  I know there is no choice in the matter but e-bay could have at least kept the 10 day duration to at least give sellers some small choice in the matter. Plus now we can not list In 2 categories' anymore and no more photo enhancing?

They took everything away and now my sales are feeling it. Made 2 small sales this week vs 10-25 that I used to make every week. I am a small seller and I can tell they want us out quickly so the buyer has a better experience with the larger sellers who can offer rock bottom prices.  I just cant compete with them.

About time to try another venue I guess after almost 8 great solid years.
