Just wanted to make sure people saw this note. eBay needs to decide if it's working on a 30-day cycle or a calendar month cycle.
eBay if nothing else is calculating in decisions of the GTC nature. I am not sure exactly when GTC first came out but I am confident eBay has tracked every single fee that occurred because of the 30 day Auto Relist of GTC and larger Sellers who would inadvertently have many listings bet Relisted twice in a 31 day month ... after all, the Julian calendar we use today has 7 months with 31 days. So, the bean counters realized that with "X" number of GTC listings they are making "Y" in fees ... so if the force all Sellers in to GTC they know about how much they will make and more importantly, when. Those of us who worked out the math of either 365 or 366 (leap year) days of the year with a 30 day dividend will know what days of each month will yield a double Relisting month in the near term or way out in the future. As that knowledge catches on eBay will be faced with very few items being listed at the beginning of each month and more towards the end. They will realize they can not maintain the income from the fees they hoped would fuel their future ...
Part and parcel to GTC is the upcoming Managed Payments which will further alienate their US Seller base. What I think has been slowly happening over the years is that their core business, US Sellers, has been chipped away at and rather then make decisions to benefit their own countrymen and women they are looking to a global market to expand ... when in fact, the US is still THE economy other countries want to get in to. Do you really think US Buyers are going to flock to Buy things from the far reaches of the world, not knowing if those people signing up to Sell are legitimate or just trying to scam $$ out of the fatter US economy. Are the world's computer hackers base primarily in the US? I would venture to say no ... they are outside the US trying to hack in to here ...
