It is getting really tiresome seeing all the listings of coins listed as Rare. This is especially true with new sellers listing Philadelphia mint pennies as rare because they don't have a mint mark. Philadelphia doesn't use a mint mark, they were the first mint so they leave the mint mark off their pennies. Also not every coin is worth thousands of dollars. I think eBay needs to regulate this better. A honest seller such as myself are not trying to Rip Off new buyers. Also some are getting away with listing a coin for 2500.00 or more ungraded, which is supposed to be against eBay regulations.I can't do that I tried and my listing got removed immediately. So why just me?

Coins like any other purchase, the buyer has to know what they are buying. The word rare has nit real meaning. It sounds good like estate sale or antique. Much better than old and musty. A number of years ago I saw a listing for a bent penny. Said it was a rare mint mistake that go out.
If they would first buy a good coin guide and collectors book, they could avoid a lot of that.

Right? Thank you for the reply.

The seller should buy a Red Book so they wouldn't mislead new buyers. I bought one years ago and a new one for this year

I turned in a seller for going against eBay policy of selling a coin for over 2500. It is listed at 36000 dollars. eBay said they didn't go against the policy even though it is not graded or certified. I have had the eBay company not even let me list for over 2499.00, it is taken off immediately. Why do certain sellers have different policy rules?

In response to last post I have a 💯 percent feedback rating. Why can't L list coins for over 2499 when others are.

Feedback means nothing. It's not used as a metric and is completely subjective.
I wonder if you have a sales restriction right now because you've had relatively few sales. It's nothing personal - eBay simply places restrictions on new/occasional sellers until they've got a track record.

There are about 1.7 Billion items listed on eBay at any given time. There is no way eBay can patrol or regulate the system to determine false advertising, incorrect information, or anything else. It is up to the buyer to determine if the item is "correct" and if turns out that it isn't, use the Money Back Guarantee to return the item and receive a refund.
If all these listings are getting really tiresome for you to see, the simple answer to that is don't go looking for them. You can report these listings but don't expect much to be done so don't waste your time getting perturbed over them. If you are actually shopping for coins to buy from other coin sellers and don't like their listings, just move on.

not every coin is worth thousands of dollars.
So don't pay thousands of dollars for coins that are not worth it.
I think eBay needs to regulate this better.
Sorry, eBay is not going to regulate prices.
So why just me?
It is not "just you". You are not important enough for eBay to make special rules just for you.
