Fixed Price GTC - Just plain wrong

Doesn't anyone at eBay think about these policies before forcing them on everyone?

I list fixed price 7 days because I am not around every day of the month, and a few years back, eBay got all fixated on fast turnaround times on shipping.  100% feedback rating in the thousands was not good enough to be a top rated seller, I had to ship fast too.

7 day fixed price is tolerable for a week when I will be home.  I match it with 7 day auctions and do eBay 1 week a month.  If I have to drop fixed price listings, eBay just loses that many sales per month.  I guess they don't care what actually sells - all that is important is the listing fee.  Well, they will lose that too, from me.

Ebay is the best auction sales platform around, but they seem to be actively trying to fix that.  If I want Amazon, I will shop Amazon.  Ebay is not Amazon, and they should stop trying to be.

Over the last 15 years, eBay has gone from being a fun place to buy and sell, to being a (not so) cheap knock-off of a convenience store.  I can't recall any significant improvements in the seller side of eBay in the last decade.  Each change seems to be for eBay's benefit.

But if it takes you years to sell it, how much are you making (or losing)? If you have more than 50 items relisting automatically every 30 days, you're definitely losing out.

Fully agree and I've purchased many collectables (and stamps) via auction, not BIN.

Feel very badly for all the Great Sellers I've purchased from over the years.  I hope to address this issue at a higher level later this week, to see what can be done.

Exactly the same here! seller for ten years and they seem to hate me. 30 day listings prompted me to revise the listings with new photos, add new text, provide a better experience for a sale BUT nope Ebay wants it to just relist over and over again collecting fees. RIDICULOUS , i will be starting to sell & BUY elsewhere.

Re: Fixed Price GTC - Just plain wrong

I like to do buy it now every three days., Then relist over and over. Seems to attract people when they see something newly listed. Also every time i list something my followers see the new listing and make offer, My items are one of a kind items not usually going to be found by google search anyway

Re: Fixed Price GTC - Just plain wrong

I was told by a buyer that he will pay more for an item when it is an auction than a buy it now. just to outbid another bidder. all my items sell in three to five days who needs more time probally has price to high or too common of an item

Re: Fixed Price GTC - Just plain wrong

Changed the listings TODAY to GTC. Sad once again we were NOT given the exact date. As a result I had lots to relist and was going to do 10 days one last time. Now I will have hundreds left over unused at the end of the month. Will just wait until store subscription ends and close store as the fees for a store are useless now. Luckily I have another store where that subscription ends next month so that wait won't be long. Will be really interesting to see the end result for Ebay's greediness. I know that I also purchased my items to sell on Ebay so they will loose my 2 stores and my future purchases. Amazon will be my choice for buying items in the future.

Re: Fixed Price GTC - Just plain wrong

I did notice a small thing started for me Saturday when I saw a shirt I wanted and was interrupted and came back to the computer being off so I first looked in google history and it was if I had never been there to shirts page..the I remember exactly the title and type it in...Nothing even remotely like it coming up, so after looking for like 20 more minutes...I typed in search bar the exact title of an Item i am selling with kind of odd name, I typed it word for word and hit enter....Note any other time I have ever done this it usually brings my item up first or at least its very close searching no more than 2nd page to find...Now I could not find the odd titled item ever went to very end of list so I tried around five more...same thing nothing pulling up at all...I even random picked an ebay seller and typed one of their item in search word for word....no item...Also doing this with my uploaded youtube videos i used to type strange in the search het video and filter by date and it came up quickly it doesn't pull up at all now even with entire title in search...Just saying A.I. is great until things are not and there is no way to call and find out why this is happening to google and ebay?   I do not like the rules about GTC now at all makes me feel vulnerable and worried i need to just remove all the "buy now"  items im selling ... which would really hurt me because thats all my stuff...not to mention I personally liked being able to have the option and know at 30 days i must do it I feel like it is harder to manage with gtc like you forget its there..

Re: Fixed Price GTC - Just plain wrong

This is insane who decides these things wonder if they take time for those huge salaries to read us...bc if so they are monsters with very little to no empathy for its sellers....I wish competition would come around like yardsellr (and not sell to ebay)...something that is like ebay idea but more care for helping sellers in heart...do they know sellers are also buyers....the silly greed could go overboard soon and ruin ebay...it had barely pulled out of the bad rep and gloom a few years ago this is too much too soon....I still can't understand so many things after 3+ years and that one was something I had figured out!  Now I will have to end them without warning of the 30 dAy end....I will forget most of my  BiN items sell quick... But not all do and I want them to be there  when a customer comes around yes but I  like to know when it ends to know to re-word it  or do new pics etc...now they will be out of site and mind...PLEASE EBAY FIGURE OUT HOW TO MAKE THINGS EASIER AND I PROMISE TO LIST MORE AND DO NOT MIND A 1% RISE IN FF...Just wondering why you did this the promotions thing....it  is making it hard enough and ebay totally banked on this ...maybe if you guys get some extra cash could you find some strategies to help our situation as a small individual who sells to make it each month!!!
