Doesn't anyone at eBay think about these policies before forcing them on everyone?
I list fixed price 7 days because I am not around every day of the month, and a few years back, eBay got all fixated on fast turnaround times on shipping. 100% feedback rating in the thousands was not good enough to be a top rated seller, I had to ship fast too.
7 day fixed price is tolerable for a week when I will be home. I match it with 7 day auctions and do eBay 1 week a month. If I have to drop fixed price listings, eBay just loses that many sales per month. I guess they don't care what actually sells - all that is important is the listing fee. Well, they will lose that too, from me.
Ebay is the best auction sales platform around, but they seem to be actively trying to fix that. If I want Amazon, I will shop Amazon. Ebay is not Amazon, and they should stop trying to be.
Over the last 15 years, eBay has gone from being a fun place to buy and sell, to being a (not so) cheap knock-off of a convenience store. I can't recall any significant improvements in the seller side of eBay in the last decade. Each change seems to be for eBay's benefit.

With both options available - GTC and 30-day fixed - you can have it YOUR WAY and ducks2k can have it HIS WAY.
Simple
Both options aren't available anymore.
Thank you... I know that and I have expressed my opinion on the subject many times.... I should have said "you COULD have it"

One of the basic elements of closing a sale of any item is to create urgency. The very name of Good Til Cancelled completely eliminates the urgency for a potential buyer to pull the trigger. Even with a 30 Day listing, there is a countdown and after selling on eBay for 11 years, I have noticed a definitive correlation with sales that occur near the listing's end time. I also like to list new items as a 7 Day Buy It Now listing to track the number of views and watchers and see if I need to adjust the price after that first 7 day trial run. Just when I got in a good groove with this process, they make this stipulation. I WANT IT BACK!! I have noticed a complete drop off in sales this week and after a very steady February and March, I haven't sold a thing since March 25. I'm not sure if this is coincidence or not, but I thought this would affect my sales negatively and so far it is looking like it is. Does anyone know how to email eBay directly to let them know I'm unhappy about this change? I only see a phone call option.

@greg5000 wrote:I'm one of eBay's best Buyers since 2010 and I Fully Agree with ALL of the Sellers posting about concerns with GTC being forced on them. I was just about to set up a Sellers Account, but I have no interest now, due to numerous Technical Issues and now seeing this issue. I also have no interest to buy anything based on what I'm seeing and I'm in solidarity with the Sellers until the GTC issue is fixed.
If Millions of Sellers leave the platform, millions of Buyers will also leave, as they'll have less and less to buy. Many of the Sellers posting here with concerns Are Some of the Best That eBay Has!
And .... Almost everything I've purchased (hundreds of items) was in an auction listing.
As far as hoping eBay will walk back this change, this question came up at Chat on March 27, 2019. One of the Blues stated in Chat that eBay has no plans to rescind this change.
You can read the Chat if you care to confirm this; there are other GTC related questions there as well.

Not quite. They will show as newly listed the first time they are listed, but not on any subsequent relistings.

I read the reasons for the fixed price change presented by the VP of Seller Experience. He should move on to selling used cars. Who do they think they're kidding? This was not instituted to help with selling, it's just another underhanded way to gouge more money from sellers. Sure, you can avoid the rollover fee by cancelling but think of the money they will make from those who forget or don't understand the policy. This will continue until everyone gets wise then they will find some other cynical way to gouge sellers. Thanks ebay. Or should I say Fee-Bay. It would be nice if ebay would treat their individual sellers the same as they do the big box mass sellers. After all, ebay was started with the individual in mind, seems they've forgotten that.

someone this morning posted on another thread they got hit with a $73.00 GTC rollover fee when a slew of listings were automatically relisted and they went over their allotment of listings.

@no_zero369 wrote:There is a simple work around if one wants to let their listings auto renew for years without doing anything - list near the middle of the month! In fact, one of the blues in essence endorsed this work around in comments on one of the Seller Update threads. Why would they do that (give away the "avoid fees" secret) if fees was the main reason for this change?
I have seen this argument several times and it is not completely correct. Yes, if you use GTC and list near the middle of the month, it will be quite some time before a listing renews twice during any given month.
But your post is worded to sound like if you list near the end of the month, there will be no relist fees; at least it SOUNDS like that is what you are saying. HOWEVER the real bottom line is that whether you list in the beginning of the month, the middle or the end, when the listing renews at 30 days you will STILL be charged a re-list fee. THIS is what I see as the crux of the objections being posted here and is causing grief for many sellers (small and large) whose selling strategy has been historically based on 1,3,5,7 day BIN listings. Please stop posting mis-information.
