Final Value Fees

Has anyone else noticed that without fanfare----Ebay finally has stopped including the tax paid in computing the final value fee percentage?? If I'm not mistaken, that's what was happening before. Now they subtract the tax first and only the item cost (plus shipping if buyer paid) is used in the formula. Maybe all our complaints actually worked!

To the best of my knowledge that has not happened. Can you provide a bit more detail and/or a screen shot of the particular item transaction details where you see this happened?

There never is any fanfare about something that has not happened.

Maybe you sold to one of the rare places that don't charge sales tax.

If you have a buyer that lives in one of the few states that doesn’t collect sales tax that is why you’re not seeing any sales tax deducted.

Those states are Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon

Also, the OP sells shoes, which would not be taxed in the several states which exempt clothing from sales tax.

What you are showing is correct. BUT I am guessing that the OP saw the breakdown on the actual sales ticket which misled him. Notice that in the deductions the sales tax is subtracted first then the selling fees. I can see how someone might think that the tax was deducted before the fees were calculated. Sorry, it ain't so.

You may have had a purchase from a buyer that doesn't have a state sales tax.

I haven't heard about anyone else making this "mistake" - and announcing it as a major breakthrough.  I mean, do a little math and don't pull the fire alarm if you don't smell any smoke.

Okay, maybe some of you did not understand the post. I said nothing about them not charging tax. I said the formula that is used to compute the final value fee seems to not be including the tax that was paid... but only the sale price and the shipping cost. At one time many of us were complaining because eBay included the tax in Computing the fee and then the tax of course was deducted from the earnings.
