Can someone please clarify the outrageous FVF fees. Here is an example.....I just sold an action figure set for $29.99 USD. I was charged a FVF of $5.48+.30. Now I understand the stand .30cents but why was the $5.48 (18%) taken from the sale. I sell mostly figure and Funk POP and as I am looking at the FVFs they are all above 13%. I am rated as a Top Seller as well. I thought the FVF were 12.35%.
Definitely will stop selling on eBay for now. Between these FVFs and the horrible forced acceptance of managed payments, it does't make sense anymore.

Are you in Managed Payments?
I am not, and am resisting it, but the 30c makes me think you are.
If so that charge is 10% * of the $29.99 as FVF.
Plus 10% of your shipping charge**
30c non-refundable payment processing fee***
2.9% of the total customer payment ($29.99+ shipping)
and 2.9% of any state sales tax your customer paid.
Without knowing what your shipping fees are, if your customer is in a state with sales tax, or if you are in Managed Payments that's as far as I can go. But that's $4.16 of the $5.78 you paid. Add in the fees on shipping and sales tax and you probably will come pretty close.
With Paypal payment processing, the fees were pretty much the same, but they were more scattered and the eBay fees were charged monthly instead of at the end of the 30 day billing period.
*May vary by category
** has been in effect for several years
*** same as Paypal processing fee

On another action figure you are charging $14.90 for shipping to 90210 . The Shipping FVF is 10% so there's another $1.49 of the charges you see. Making $5.65 of the $5.78,.

Hey BOBBA,
Did you buy your label & postage from ebay? Do you have a store?
If so, you need to add those costs into your sale, not get distracted with the FVF diversion nonsense. Do not go down the garden path as everyone else here has.
To get the BIG picture, divide the monthly store fee by 30 days to get the overhead days cost for that sale on that day, then add your label cost & the FVF for the product, FVF postage & FVF sales tax.
For sold items the ebay fees can be 60-85% of the sale for a
selling price of $9.99-39.99.
Pretty ugly, but next to the River only they have the global audience.
As far as the MP nonsense Etsy takes TWO days and the $ is IN THE BANK.
Etsy processes credit cards with Ayden. The ONLY reason it takes 3 times longer with ebay-Ayden, is because they WANT IT to. They deny skimming the float but there is no other explanation that makes sense. Hope that helps everyone out with the "learning curve".
Only you can make the decision, "Should I Stay or Should I go?"
Darlin' you got to let me know
Should I stay or should I go?
If you say that you are mine
I'll be here 'til the end of time
So you got to let me know
Should I stay or should I go?

Look at your performance record metrics. Are you below standard? If so, eBay tacks on an extra 5 percent FVF.

I feel the same way when i go to the supermarket for a loaf of bread or a half gallon of milk. The prices are too high.

In MP, final value fees are assessed against on the item price, shipping cost, and sales tax.
The percentage is not fixed - it can vary by category, by seller level, by store subscription, by seller performance standards, and by whether the sale was international or not.
You would need to give us all the relevant information in order to determine whether that fee amount was calculated correctly ... but I suspect in the end you will find out that it was.

You are probably calculating the percentage based on the wrong number. As others have pointed out the final value fee is charged on more than the sale price.

18% is still cheaper than most. I'm selling at 33% costs as far as eBay metrics states. Another reason why you have to get the merch for practically nothing to make substantial money on here.

General reply ...
IMHO the most important thing about a percentage is to keep in mind what it is measuring. I honestly do not care what the fees are as a percentage of the total payment, because the total payment is not an important benchmark for me.
The important benchmark for me is how much of the item price I am putting in my pocket after all expenses. Everything else is just background noise.
If my item price is $10 and I put $8 in my pocket, I am doing pretty well - regardless of whether I paid 0% fees on a total payment of $10 or 33% fees on a total payment of $15.

Shipping to me in NW Florida shows 9.90 on your X-Factor listing that just sold. Florida is not a Facilitator tax state (yet), so no Sales Tax charged for me on the order. If the buyer was further away an in a Facilitator state, the shipping and tax would make the total higher.
But you are NOT paying 18%. You are paying 12.35% plus 0.30 on the Total Amount of the Sale ... including shipping and sales tax
If the sale was to me, it would look like this:
$29.95
$9.90 shipping
$39.85 total sale amount
$39.85 x 12.35% = $4.92
Plus .30 = $5.22 total FVF

Why are you USING a state that charges no tax?? For Florida is pretty much the ONLY state that buys anything without a state tax. The rest we are being charge FVF of almost 13% on the taxes. So that is almost 10% MORE than PP did. Yep, so whatever your customers tax, be it $25, were being charge 10% MORE.
Also, MP is so screwed up plus there is NO real breakdown of exactly what we are paying. I have tried to call them there is a 2 hour wait time! They have my account all screwed up. OH and by the way, your still going to get a bill for adding a second category and such!

We are being charged Almost 10% more on on FVF on TAXES! And please, don't use Florida as a excuse. For PP didn't charge for Florida either. Instead of giving us a break, we are being charge HIGHER for ebay to do this. But the minions will try and lead you to believe your saving. Don't believe it.

10% of the states in the country do not have a sales tax at all. (Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon).

As I stated above, I am rated as a TOP Seller. I also don't have an eBay store.
Thanks for the reply.
