Did anybody notice how ebay quietly raised final value fees on most categories on March 1st without notifying anyone? For my category it went from 12.55% to 12.9% The fees are already way too high..

People who are responding to this. Forget whether or not they announced it. The fee increase is ridiculous the fact they take part of the shipping is already criminal. The fact the needed promotion FEE now or you wont get seen is all just another way they are taking more and more. I dont care when they announced its the fact its being done again and again in so many other ways. Open your eyes. The government is already stealing from us all now these people keep following suit. When is line for you. 15%-20%. When do you say. Enough is enough.

Every once in awhile someone here like jmsracingengines gets it! The reason ebay takes 10% of the shipping cost is because dishonest sellers were cheating them by listing items like $50 face value stamps for $0.99 BIN + $50 shipping in order to avoid eBay FVF. Rather than eliminate these dishonest sellers, they realized that by charging EVERYONE 10% of the shipping cost they would get the $$$ due from the cheats and get a WINDFALL of MILLIONS OF DOLLARS at the expense of honest sellers who followed the rules!!!! In fact, ebay doesn’t participate at all in getting items shipped to buyers; they simply collect that 10% fee “because they can” as an ebay phone representative once told me. Now, honest sellers who use the USPS shipping calculator LOSE MONEY ON SHIPPING so ebay can continue to make shareholders happy!!!!

12.9 percent doesn't sound like a lot when you're selling a 20- or 30-dollar item, they take out 2 or 3 dollars. But when you sell a laptop or something for 350.00 and they take a cut of 60-70 dollars that is a big chuck of change. If you promote it they could take another 10 percent, 23 percent. And if you don't promote it you're not getting the advertisement you need. There shouldn't be promoting. At the 13.3 percent they are charging, everyone should get equal advertising. It's not only about the percent they take. It's also about how they apply it. They add the buyer's sales tax to the price of your item and the shipping cost, then then they take out the 13 percent. they do that to make more money. So, if you sell an item for 350. They add say 25.00 that the seller paid for his taxes on purchasing. Why should i have his taxes added on my item, i have to do a 1099 and do my own taxes. And if you make a mistake and don't put it in the right category, they can take even more percentage rate. Then as a California resident, there is a recycling fee, of 5.00 for new and refurbished items. For the last 6 months, Ebay has been applying them wrong. They were charging for used and non-working laptops. After many complaints to the state, eBay finally stopped, and they know they applied them wrong. but the people now are asking for that money back, and they are trying to get away without giving this money back to the people who were taxed wrong. It's not just about the percentage they are taking, they are sneaky. The people who try to get their money back, they are making it so difficult that many just give up. They owe me at least 60.00 , who knows how many people they have done this to. And by not giving them their money is illegal. If people got together there could be a class action lawsuit, and they would win. They are deceiving people and cheating them. Since you're not a California resident you haven't experienced this. When you have to deal with ebay because they have cheated you out of money you will change your mind. It's easy to say don't sell on here,

How was ebay supposed to let you know about changes if you don't pay attention. Send someone personally to your door?
I expect nothing less than a Marching Band at my door......

Um, you are replying to a thread that began in March of 2022.
eBay raised the FVF rate ( in most categories, for non-stores) to 13.25% on February 15, 2023. For an item that sells for $350, even at the new rate that's $46.38; if you add $25 sales tax and $20 shipping so the total paid is $395, that brings the FVF up to $52.33 (plus 30 cents). I don't know where you got "60-70 dollars".
