Did anybody notice how ebay quietly raised final value fees on most categories on March 1st without notifying anyone? For my category it went from 12.55% to 12.9% The fees are already way too high..

It was in the winter seller update released on 9 February but I also received notification through the eBay messaging system.

The fee increase was announced in the winter seller update, discussed at length both here and on the special boards eBay set up for the update. eBay did not quietly raise the fees it was fully announced in advance.

All the fee increase were announced in the Winter Seller Update & discussed quite extensively across different chat boards on different platforms. Adjust your sell pricing accordingly if the 0.35% is affecting you too much. Sure, we are getting nickled & dimed. However, we can adjust to make up the difference. When you do the math, the increase is very negligible.
Do the numbers....I think you will be ok!
Best regards

Quietly?
Without notifying anyone?

I see, the O.P. first post here. I guess the people that don't use or lurk at the boards or look at any notices/updates from ebay could be caught off guard. Seem to be quite a few that don't pay attention to things they should to stay ahead of the games here.
How was ebay supposed to let you know about changes if you don't pay attention. Send someone personally to your door?
I see the same thing at work and other places too not just here. The date comes and all of a sudden people are in a dizzy about it because no one sat them in the corner and held their hand and told them about the changes personally or like the other day here about the road closures and people didn't have a clue how to get to work and were late.
They all complained they had no idea that the road was being closed even though they had a big billboard sign up the last 2 weeks announcing the start date of construction and the road would be closed besides all the orange and white barrels by the roadside edge should have gave them a clue, but nope because no one grabbed them by the ears and told them personally. How do you inform people like that? it is hard to.

eBay sent you a copy of the spring seller update which had the information about the increase included. The announcement was emailed to you.

It was clearly mentioned in the seller update which you received. Looks like you've been here since 2017 so you know that their are at the very least 2 updates per year. Also, the fee's are not high at all and if you can't deal or think that a .3% increase is to much then you need to change your business model. 12.9% for 100's of millions of eyeballs is peanuts compared to what you would pay in advertising to get that kind of attention on your own website. Stop complaining & start listing.

There was an ebay notification in messages about fee hike.
However, their fee hike came pretty quickly on the heels of having just told sellers they'd save a percent or so due to eBay becoming a payment processor and doing away with PayPal as the processor. They were saying (variably within late 2020 to mid 21), Hey sellers! ~ Instead of using PayPal to process transactions, it'll just be eBay now. Instead of paying some ie 13% (between eBay and PayPal), you'll pay just 12.5%, solely to eBay. Great, right?!
Gee, a half a percent. Thank you? And not forthright about the savings, seeing as there's different fees depending on category. And I personally liked deciding how and when to withdraw my earnings from PayPal. But who asked us.
This is all rather how eBay does business. And since they've lost buyers (millions to competing platforms) and not a few sellers (arguably 10s of thousands, if not more), they're trying to make up for it through milking new and longtime sellers rather than make it cheaper to sell, which would be a no-brainer for A) new sellers to hop on the marketplace, or B) entice former eBay sellers to come back, or C) perk up their seller base from even thinking (let alone complaining) about taking their business elsewhere.

Welcome to the Boards!
Are you getting your e-Bay announcement emails? Just had a WINTER update and a SPRING one will be along soon.
Make sure your emails are not going to a spam folder...

There was plenty of notifications. Even if you missed it from Ebay there are too many topics started that already discussed this. Nothing new. I wouldn't consider a price increase of 0.35 % anything to get all worked up about. What people should be complaining about is Biden raising gas 100% by closing the pipeline.

And also the lower your feedback score you will have higher fees...your fees also go up more.
So always keep your feedback at 100 percent.

Could you please provide a link to that policy? I've never heard of it.
