Fees are based on the listing costs and promotions if any, and the final sale value ( price of item, Plus shipping, plus tax if any): and then the final value fee is calculated on that, plus the .30.
Fees are what they are and well defined, if one know what they are.
It is not just the final value fees on the price of said item, this seems to be the confusion of folks one selling on eBay.

Dont see that you've sold anything for more than a year, and you cancelled that transaction.

What is the difference between what your research said it would be and what you were actually charged?
Fees are based on the full payment you receive from the buyer (item price, shipping and any sales tax the buyer paid).
Can you show a breakdown of the fees?
Did you use any upgrades? Did you promote?

Need more info..........
without seeing your listings, no one can tell if you have made some sort of error/listing upgrade that would increase the fees.......
that said...........have you reviewed the fees and just think they are too high in general?

Were you downgraded?

Because whatever you are using the eBay site for is incurring those fees.
