Feedback

Why are so many not willing to leave feedback?   When I sell, I wait until the buyer has posted feedback so I know everything is OK before I post feedback.  When I buy I leave feedback immediately as soon as I know everything is OK with the order.  If it isn't I contact the seller directly.  I don't believe I've gotten feedback of any kind from my last 10-12 buyers, so I haven't left any for them.  I assume everything is OK as I haven't had any complaints, but how would I know?  Are they just too lazy or too important to take the time, or...?  Or does no one care about their own feedback profile anymore?

Trust me, you'd know if there were complaints. The old "no news is good news" works for me. Hang in there...

Maybe they are thinking the same thing.

Feedback participation internet-wide is about 30%. I leave feedback when I ship the product, thanking the buyer and letting them know their item has posted. It may boost the number of FB I get in return, but I don't expect it, I'm happy when someone takes the trouble, though, giving how people are bombarded with FB requests from it seems about every site one uses. Online transactions are nothing new so feedback really isn't that important to many.

I've said it before... I'll say it again.  As long as no one is leaving you a red donut, or even a gray one, sleep well tonight.

Feedback is voluntary no one is required to give feedback.
Many buyers don't feel it's necessary or perhaps they bought as a guest and can't leave feedback.

My question to you is this...are you selling on eBay to make $$$ or are you just wanting to collect feedback?

On Amazon FB is in single digit percentages, and at the low end of single digits.

Amazon reflects the reality of retail. FB is unnatural and unnecessary in a well policed marketplace.

Ebay culture has always attached importance to FB, because in its early days, when Pierre ran the company, there was nothing else to deal with bad sellers.

It continues to see more FB, most of which is useless.

I let Ebay automatically generate FB for my buyers.

I get a reasonable amount of FB as a seller and have some clever and articulate buyers.

Were the FB system to disappear overnight, I would not miss it.

I leave feedback automatic as soon as payment is received. Then i always send a message when the item is shipped. Feedback received from buyers runs at about 35%. Good luck and stay away from red and grey.

I’ve never understood why sellers wait for buyers to leave feedback first.  Feedback  does NOT benefit a buyer in any way so what is the point of waiting to see if there is a problem?  If there is a problem down the road that feedback already left won’t hurt you or help the buyer.

Have you noticed how many post there are here about sellers having feedback removed?

Some buyers have probably had feedback removed, so why leave any.

Have A Great Day.

I always (well pretty much always) leave feedback for sellers if it's positive. If there has been an issue. I message them. Feedback doesn't do much for those sellers that have 4 digit+ feedback already, but it does help those with single or low double digit feedback.

Even if some of you do not look at feedback, other buyers do and if I can help a good seller get a foothold with a positive feedback and comment, I'll do it.

I suspect because for buyers, there is really no benefit.

I assume everything is OK as I haven't had any complaints, but how would I know?

Feedback does not tell you everything is okay. It only tells you everything is probably okay.

Are they just too lazy or too important to take the time, or...?

They are not "lazy" or "too important". Buyers simply have no incentive to leave feedback and see no benefit from it.

Or does no one care about their own feedback profile anymore?

IMHO most buyers don't carte about feedback.

Who is 'no one?'  Buyers, sellers, or both?  As I seller, I've completely stopped. I've tried everything, including leaving positive first, waiting until item was received, then leaving to remind them,  adding hand written notes and way back when I tried to follow up to nicely remind them (that is certain death as most know).  In notes or ads, I'd say what you suggest to remind them to leave feedback to signal that item was received, nothing.

I've complained in here about the broken feedback system (only positive allowed by sellers, so it's not two way, so yes, everyone ignores.

Doesn't matter, I reached my tolerance this week with yet another return and providing of label charged to me by ebay on item fully described as 'no return' - doesn't matter.  So I stopped feedback last year, am on hold now and expect to stop ebay after 24 years.  Yesterday I took stuff to Goodwill, today I'm tossing shipping material.  It's an absolutely broken system - i blame the population as much as ebay, but that's all ebay can offer, to protect their resources, they don't and won't.

I've never understood why anyone would care one way or the other.

Until they have a bad transaction with a seller who has a high feedback count and 100% Positive FB.

Never had a problem on any site with a seller who did not have 100% FB.  And they continued to have 100% FB after I got my refund.
