Why are so many not willing to leave feedback? When I sell, I wait until the buyer has posted feedback so I know everything is OK before I post feedback. When I buy I leave feedback immediately as soon as I know everything is OK with the order. If it isn't I contact the seller directly. I don't believe I've gotten feedback of any kind from my last 10-12 buyers, so I haven't left any for them. I assume everything is OK as I haven't had any complaints, but how would I know? Are they just too lazy or too important to take the time, or...? Or does no one care about their own feedback profile anymore?

Several points here: You do know that FB is optional/not required for both buyer and seller.
As you know, buyers can only be given positive FB. Many sellers see no point in FB for a buyer.
Believe me, if something is not OK, either from a buyer's or a seller's POV, you will probably hear.
657 FB is probably enough for any buyer/seller to trust you.

as sellers we know how important feedback is.
For those that are just buyers....................... feedback is a waste of their time unless there is an issue.
If you were just a buyer..................... perhaps your outlook would be different.
Many places that I purchase from look for a "review" of the transaction. I click the email to the trash.
On eBay............... as I am a seller, when I buy something, I leave feedback for the seller when I get the item.
I list accurately, ship promptly. Feedback from buyers is less than 20%

I think BOTH the buyer and the seller should wait until the other leaves feedback first before leaving feedback.

I can understand the need for happy buyers or unhappy buyers to leave feedback for their sellers if they feel like it, but the fact that there is still an option for sellers to leave feedback for buyers is a complete joke. Not only is it a complete joke, but it's a waste of time and usually nothing more than useless flattery by sellers, including myself, when I praise a buyer for paying me with hopes they won't get upset if I don't leave them feedback just because they paid. It's ridiculous. Plus, from what I've read on this forum over the years, there is always that certain rare buyer who leaves rotten feedback for a seller just because the seller didn't leave any meaningless feedback for them first, telling them how great they are for paying, lol, which is yet one more reason why the option for sellers being able to leave meaningless feedback for buyers should be permanently removed.

Reminds me.
Years ago there was a popular magazine that had a column "It's the law" which cited obviously stupid laws. One I remember is
If 2 trains come to a crossing both shall stop and neither shall advance until the other has passed.

257 sold, 157 feedback........... pretty good rate for you.

Hey, I'll sleep well even if I do get bad feedback. It's just business.

Be careful what you wish for, especially with an attitude like that about buyers. Consider that maybe they're too kind to leave the neutrals and negs that would reflect how they really feel.
For whatever it's worth: In my active selling days, which ended recently, I always left feedback for buyers as soon as they paid. It was just an easy, quick way to say "thank you" at the time of the sale, as I would if I were at the counter of a brick-and-mortar.

I take a similar but slightly different tack. I leave feedback just as I am about to print the label . That way any time I open my sold list and see an order without feedback it indicates a new sale I have not yet taken care of.
And since I can leave all my feedback en mass it doesn't matter how many there are. Takes 3 mouse clicks and all of about 10 seconds. One less thing to keep track of.

That's good to hear, apparently not everyone who sells on eBay has thick skin like you do.

There has never been a time when feedback, which is voluntary, went above 40% or so of transactions.
And I believe most of those were left by sellers.
Assume that if there is a problem the buyer will contact you.
Are they just too lazy or too important to take the time, or...?
Yes
Or does no one care about their own feedback profile anymore?
No
Feedback is a relic of the 20th century internet when online purchasing was new and edgy, instead of how we buy cheap jewelry, pineapple candy, wigs, and pokemon cards.

Or, as many sellers do, set up your FB situation so that excellent FB is left for your buyers as soon as they pay. You never have to think about FB again. Problem solved.

FYI During my eBay selling "career" sold 1665 items - primarily pre-owned clothing and footwear - received 1006 FB as a seller - had 1 neg and a couple neutral and less than a handful of returns. Always left FB for the buyer at the time I bought shipping label - always within 1 day of payment, never "begged" for a FB in return. Guess was just lucky

Less and less people are leaving feedback now, but that's okay. I would much rather have quality over quantity and you have some really nice ones on there. Happy sales to you.

I never wait for the buyer gets it before leaving feedback. I always leave feedback when they buy, what else am I to be thankful for? That they get it, then I need to thank the post office. If there is something wrong, they will let you know.
Buyers think if a seller does not thank them for the purchase, why should I care to leave a feedback. Apparently you never buy anything on eBay.
