Approximately 50% of my sales results in the buyer not paying.  Do these people get negative feedback from eBay?

No; no buyer is to get negative feedback similar to no Target or Walmart puts up a poster with the face of a customer stating 'Bad Customer' in the Storefront Window.

What you are to do is after 4 days of not paying, you can cancel (or you may have this set on automatic) and relist. You can then 'report' buyer for 'non payment' (or it will come up when you cancel sale).

If a buyer gets enough 'reported' for non payment, they won't be able to bid on auctions anymore and can only 'buy' things from sellers that have a 'buy it now' with 'immediate payment required'.

That’s a high percentage. You should list at a fair price Buy It Now with Immediate Pay Required.

There's no such thing as negative feedback for buyers.

But if you wait 4 days and then cancel choosing "Buyer hasn't paid" as the reason, they will get a nonpayment strike on their account.  A member's strike history is not shown to other users, but sellers can set up their site preferences to automatically block bidders/buyers who have gotten two strikes in the past 12 months.  That's the only penalty for naughty buyers.

I agree with "yankeefans," BIN with IPR. In addition, I have not, do not, nor will ever have any desire for OBO.

     I use the auction format almost exclusively but for reasons most sellers don't consider and it relates to time management. I have not use OBO in years again related to time management. BIN with immediate payment required will eliminate the non-payers but it can potentially open up another set of issues.

BIN with immediate payment - isn't that an issue if buyers want to combine items?  They can't put things in a cart and Request Invoice.

@paramedicoberg

They get a strike against their account.  One too many of them and they cannot bid or buy on ebay for I believe it's a year, I might be wrong.  Someone else here may know.

Do yourself a favor and just kick the auction style listings to the curb.  Is it really worth the stress and disappointment you are obviously experiencing? These non payers are just doing it to annoy you and so many others and use ebay as a playground.

Buy it now fixed price

Immediate payment required checked off.

NO best offers - best offers attract the same non paying "pain in the you know whats"...

I stopped using auction style listings years ago for exactly what you are posting about.  Now when I have a sale, I always get paid.

Have a great Easter.

@paramedicoberg ,

Feedback is mainly for the measurement of seller performance. This is why many businesses survey their customers to get feedback an how they are doing and evaluating the feedback to see how they improve.

Instead of looking at negative feedback as a punishment a seller should take a couple of minutes to think how they could things better in the future to not make the same mistake twice.

When was the last time you went to a business and they left you feedback as a buyer? Even if it happens, a business would never leave a buyer negative feedback to a customer. The last thing any business wants to do is **bleep** off a customer who tells others about how bad they were treated. The last thing eBay wants is bunch of sellers leaving retaliatory feedback for buyers so they don't come back.

If you are listing at auction, you will have a much higher percentage of non-payers than if you list Fixed Price.

Fixed Price also allows the option of adding Immediate Payment Required.

Used together your items will remain visible and available for 30 days or until someone pays.

For any combined shipment scenario, just refund the buyer the difference for the combined shipment. Problem Solved! If the buyer asks, then simply explain your process for combined shipping & most of the time the buyers are OK with it.

Bidders are not automatically blocked or suspended on the basis of their strikes.

But Sellers can choose to block them in their site preferences; there are options for the number of strikes (2 to 5) and the look-back time period (3, 6, or 12 months). Most Sellers choose the strictest combination, i.e., lowest number of strikes (2) and longest period (12 months).   Sellers who always use fixed price with immediate payment required don't care how many strikes a buyer has.

Many years ago, eBay had a "3 strikes and you're out" policy, but that disappeared shortly after the site preferences option was introduced.
