Feedback

I have auto-feedback set, when buyer pays and leaves feedback they receive positive feedback automatically. My buyers are getting feedback from me automatically, but I'm not getting feedback from them. Does anyone know why this is happening? I'm a new seller.

Re: Feedback

I do worry about such things because I'm in a functional used goods space.  If I auto leave feedback, it's like I'm opening up a conversation to a society that has come to believe that returns are par for the course and don't understand the actual partial effect of the cost of returns on the inflation they complain so much about.

Re: Feedback

@mrpaulw_52

I get FB from buyers on 30-35% of my sales.

You're smart to leave FB for buyers, because I do think that increases the chance that they'll leave it for you.

eBay does remind buyers to leave FB, but some just don't do it.

Re: Feedback

EB removed the ability to manually leave feedback.  I like to go through my Delivered orders and manually leave feedback.

Why did they remove it?

Re: Feedback

Are you saying that auto leaving FB encourages returns? How would that work?

If a buyer is disappointed, he will usually seek to return.  And the fact that you left a positive FB for a buyer and now he's opened a return case has no effect on the situation since you can only leave positives for buyers anyway.

Whatever the effect of the cost of returns on inflation may be, it would not stop me if I had received an item that was not as described.  Would the cost of returns on inflation stop you from opening a return case?

I find your comments a little confusing.

Re: Feedback

Sorry to hear that you felt my comments were nasty.

It seems like all of us are entitled to our own opinions, however, as it should be.

Re: Feedback

As you know, FB on eBay is optional, not mandatory.  That's probably the reason eBay has never wasted time or energy in enhancing the system.  There are many sellers who would be delighted if eBay abandoned it altogether due to the way it's heavily skewed in favor of buyers.

Cannot picture eBay ever offering tangible rewards for FB.

BTW, when you post here, you are not addressing eBay.  So it's not our "start page".

He was referring to sellers not being able to leave feedback. Not buyers. Whether or not he is correct, I have no idea. I am on auto feedback, so there isn’t a need or an option to provide manually for buyers.

Re: Feedback

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by the ability to manually leave feedback.

It's still there, as far as I can see on mine. Click on Feedback and the top box says custom. That's where you can type whatever you want. Under that is another box that has your saved feedback responses. My screenshot isn't working so sorry for that.

Can't do it manually if you are on auto tho.
