Feedback

I have auto-feedback set, when buyer pays and leaves feedback they receive positive feedback automatically. My buyers are getting feedback from me automatically, but I'm not getting feedback from them. Does anyone know why this is happening? I'm a new seller.

@stainlessenginecovers  There is explicitly a setting for that.

There isn't a setting for Buyers to leave automatic feedback for sellers, though eBay will do that in some cases for newer sellers if the buyer does not leave their own feedback.  The OP's complaint is about buyers not leaving them feedback, not about their own feedback settings, as I read it.

@mrpaulw_52 we usually get feedback from up to about 30% of our customers (it varies, but I've never calculated it much higher than that over any given time period).  Just give it time.

I am a long time seller and I find that many buyers do not leave feedback.  It just takes time to build up your feedback.  Just be patient.

Feedback is optional and very few buyers leave feedback.

@mrpaulw_52

Leaving feedback continually progresses to a relic from the past.

I receive feedback about ~20 of the time from buyers on eBay. Mostly from non-business buyers.

On my AMZ selling account, I have not received a feedback for the last 1000 or so sales. Mostly all business buyers.

The auto feedback does NOT allow it to be set up to ONLY leave when buyer leaves (if there's a setting for that, it has NEVER worked that way).

It's either 'auto' or not.

Typical average is 25%. People buy 10x more 'online' than they did 10 years ago, and they don't have time to 'leave feedback' every time they buy something (I personally find the emails from Ebay, Amazon, Walmart, SamsClub, Lowes and Home Depot MORE than annoying- just another 'click/delete' I have to deal with in my emails.

Actually, your feedback average is very good.   Your account shows that you sold 11 item and 6 people left you feedback.    That is a lot of positive feedback (customers rarely leave feedback unless they want to complain).

Trying to get old account going again (w/100% positive FB) that hasn't been used for selling/buying in a few years.  I tried to get a fairly small Seller to leave me FB for the two items I purchased from him, and he's not responding to the two very nice requests I sent.  Fortunately another small Seller just did me a solid when I requested FB (pre-sale), so thank goodness for small sellers.  But other than selection, one of the major reasons to use eBay has ALWAYS been the Feedback system.  It's 2025 and I feel like Feedback compliance is worse than ever.  Why is eBay not addressing this with some kind of rewards or skill/accomplishments feature that encourages feedback ratings or turns it into a game or bonus/dollars?  Apologies if this is already in the works, but my gosh, the Feedback system still seems antiquated.  I realize the times have changed and eBay has mega-sellers now which have become the focus, but there are still plenty of occasional/smaller sellers and buyers who are getting pulled away to simpler selling platforms.  I mean Amazon created the Vine Program for users that were really good at leaving Feedback which lets them order from a select list of "Free" items (some with no-taxable value) that are new to Amazon and the Sellers want initial feedback for the items.  I know this is Item-feedback, but with some creativity eBay could do something to help Buyer/Sellers build/re-build their ratings, as well as come up with better ways to remove Negative/Neutral feedback which was properly disputed or explained.  Is there anything in the works for making eBay Feedback a better experience or at least more prominently featured on your start page?

@jonathanbrightlight

Did not know there was an option to auto leave feedback after the buyer leaves feedback. I reckon it has been quite some time since I visited that setting.

Been doing auto feedback when the buyer pays since I discovered that about 8 years ago. Will have to stick with that.

Same exact feedback for every buyer, for years. I prefer my account to have an overall, regimented feel to it. Buyers know what to expect.

Yeah, we leave automated feedback when the buyer pays as well, not waiting for them to leave feedback.  We have a set of I think 5 automated messages it picks from for their feedback, but all fairly similar.

I'm out saying there's a setting for auto feedback from buyers. I'm saying that they are not supposed to receive auto feedback from me unless they pay and leave me a positive, but they are getting auto feedbacks from me and I'm not getting feedback from them. My point being, if they don't leave me feedback they shouldn't be getting auto feedback.

Good morning Mr. Paul, most purchasers just want their 'stuff', not too many do leave f/b as it isn't at the top of the list, and it isn't mandated.  It's a hit & miss. Continue on with your f/b program, as your buyer completed his/her part of the purchase contract. All the Best to You!!

Thanks for the reply! I get what you're saying and I'm not that worried about feedback, but the way I have my auto feedback set, they shouldn't receive auto feedback from me until they pay for the item and leave me a positive. I'm just wondering why they received feedback from me and I have it received feedback from them. 'm just trying to understand why the auto feedback isn't working the way it's supposed to, according to the settings.

Yes, I understand that. The auto feedback setting I'm using isn't supposed to leave them feedback back until the item is paid for and they leave me a positive. Just trying to figure out why the setting isn't working the way it's supposed to. Thanks for the reply
