How do others handle feedback?
If you sell an item, do you give immediate feedback? Or do you wait for the buyer to confirm that they are happy with the item? Like a handshake.
I know it doesn't really matter as buyers can only receive "positive" feedback. Just wondering.

Feedback after payment and on shipment.
Because I rarely use tracking, I put the date of shipment into the feedback as well as subtle reminders that I am not shipping from the USA.
"Thank you for your prompt payment. Shipped 28/2/23 Canada Post Air Mail. "

Since a seller's feedback literally means nothing, I have it setup to leave automatic feedback as soon as I print my shipping label.

I provide feedback once until item delivered + 1 day depend on item (Great buyer,Thank-you for your purchase We appreciate your business )
never going to thank anyone one for a quick payment cause thats not the case most of the time of they leave feedback cool at least i know they all good but i dont stress if i dont get it like many do and when i do get it il reply once Again (happy to hear that all got there safe and quick Thank you for your support. Look forward to your next visit) WHY CAUSE they made time to drop by so i do as well leting them know i got them and not just your automatic responde not my style been in customer service for yrs and now retired not by chioce. so that my point of view others look at it as they payed , i sold ,im done . more power to your style and so call waste of time . i treat people like i expect to be treated as well wish u all a great day

Seller must give feedback soonest regardless. If you don't it will affect your rating. It happened to me.

Hi @rosary12 I have to admit, your post is interesting. Can you share how you determined your "rating" was adversely affected by not leaving FB in a timely manner? And by rating I assume you mean like Top Rated, Above Standard, Below Standard???

I also would be interested in hearing how not leaving FB in a timely manner can affect anyone's rating.

@soh.maryl Correct, I am not aware of that having any effect on a Seller's rating BUT I am willing to listen to the reasons they are sure it happened ... AND who knows, it could be true ...

No, as soon as the buyer pays the buyer is done. The seller receives payment it is then their job is to leave feedback first. Ebay even suggests or it used to that the seller leaves feedback first.

If that's indeed true, that it affected your rating, then I wonder what happens when neither party ever leaves any feedback at all?

YES!!! This !

I had a situation where I contacted a seller after the successfully completed sale looking for the feedback. They were so rude and refused unless I left feedback first! I had successfully completed my part of the sale and that is what the seller's feedback for me is all about.
I ended up leaving NEGATIVE feedback for the seller for their awful customer service in refusing to leave feedback first (yes I know feedback is optional), and eBay removed it!! And I never got feedback!
eBay is deliberately favoring sellers with its feedback policy. eBay allows sellers to automate the feedback process such that ONLY when a buyer leaves POSITIVE feedback FIIRST, then the automated process will leave feedback for the seller.
In the past, I ALWAYS got feedback first, and right after I completed my part of the sale, i.e., paying for the item. Now, it seems I don't get feedback at all since I will not leave feedback first. That is not right.

I never did automatic feedback after a purchase for the buyer, but I did leave feedback a day or to after the item was delivered. Than I got tired of buyers not leaving feedback on transactions when I give them a discount or ship it asap cause they asked for it. It’s kind of petty, but at the same time it’s a respect thing. Now I only leave feedback after positive feedback has been left by the buyer.

You saying eBay favors sellers when it comes to feedback is laughable. Sellers can’t even leave negative feedback for buyers let alone neutral feedback.
This is a world of free will. If a seller wants to wait until after they receive your positive feedback, they can do that. And there’s nothing against it, which is why your feedback was removed, as it should be.
If your really concerned about sellers not leaving feedback after you’ve given it, just check their feedback received & given. If they match up, they return feedback as they should. Sellers who don’t return feedback are unbelievable, and disrespectful.

I used to give feeback to the buyers as soon as I received a "delivered" email. About 90% of the buyers never left me any feedback. I ended up setting an automatic reply once they leave me one. I'm a newer and smaller seller/buyer and most of the feedback I have are from MY purchases. I've sold over 200 items on here over the past couple of years so unfortunately I had to make the change to automatic feedback.

WOW. You admit that Fb is voluntary, yet give a negative to a seller for not giving you FB. eBay was right to remove it. By posting this, you may find yourself being blocked by other sellers who don't want to deal with a buyer begging for FB and leaving them a negative as a punishment.
