FEEDBACK RULE CHANGE

Simple rule change for feedback...

If a buyer does not leave negative, neutral or positive feedback for a seller within 30 days,

positive feedback is automatically left for the seller.

Also, when a buyer makes a payment, positive feedback is automatically left

for the buyer.

Otherwise, the seller will only have a fraction of the feedback they disserve, and considering

that eBay uses feedback to determine if a seller is eligible for Power seller, Top Rated programs that offer discounted fees for sellers, it is unfair for sellers.

I am new to Ebay, yet on eBay I had 8 sales so far and only received 2 feedbacks.

My friend had 1300 sales on eBay and only received 500 feedbacks.

On Esty I had 252 sales and only had 27 feedback.

Most people do not leave feedback, even though the transaction went smooth.

Automating the process would save time for people and assure people get what they disserve.

Re: FEEDBACK RULE CHANGE

Sometimes people, incl. me, prefer not to leave neutral/negative FB, for various reasons.

Re: FEEDBACK RULE CHANGE

It is VOLUNTARY.

Buyers may just wish NOT to leave any feedback even if the transaction was not good.

 REQUIRING feedback will give sellers many more negatives.

Re: FEEDBACK RULE CHANGE

I look at it this way.

Its better to get no feedback than to have it automated.  Automation is kinda pointless to be honest.

I would rather that I get honest feedback, good or bad than feedback just because a timer elapsed.

I will take the few I do get and move on.  Sometimes I look to see how buyers have left feedback before.  Its shocking how many I have encountered that have never left feedback ever, even when they themselves have a fair amount as a buyer.   And its equally shocking to see how many do a bare minimum.  Meaning that every single seller gets the same feedback.  So those really don't count.  The only ones I care about are those that actually put some effort into the feedback, just as I put effort into providing them an item with quick service, accurate description, and great communication.

As of right now, I think I have nearly 30 items that I have sold in the past couple months that I have yet to receive feedback on.  lol   Not really worried about it.  And I never, ever ask my buyers for feedback.

Re: FEEDBACK RULE CHANGE

When you shop in a store do you leave feedback? When you buy online do you leave feedback? Do you leave feedback on Amazon? On BBB? On Saks.com? On bestbuy.com? We are selling items not feedback, eBay has already moved away from the feedback system by displaying the items sold, which is far more important. I don’t care about getting positive feedback, I care about selling items to buyers. I want their business not their positive feedback.

Re: FEEDBACK RULE CHANGE

So, if I buy one of your items and not completely satisfied and decide not to leave any feedback, I should go ahead and leave a negative so you don't get the auto positive.

Have a great day.

This is not true.

@coolstuffforsale99

Feedback is not considered at all in a seller's rating or eligibility of such.

While it is true that BUYERS can only receive a positive review, many sellers do not wish to leave feedback until the transaction is completed.  Why leave a 'green donut' for a buyer who subsequently  proceeds with a fraudulent claim, and returns the proverbial brick instead of the item they received?

@coolstuffforsale99

besides all other things mentioned- just the "leave auto feedback moment buyer pays" is the singularly MOST ridiculous thing to force on a seller.

What if the buyer returns the item? Was this a FANTASTIC A++++ Transaction?

What if the buyer returns a rock instead of what they bought from you- was this a FANTASTIC A++++ Transaction??

Re: FEEDBACK RULE CHANGE

Many have come here and suggested the same thing and they are all explained that people would receive a lot more negatives this way because some people aren't satisfied but they're not quite mad enough to leave a negative so they don't leave anything but they would definitely leave a neutral or negative if they knew it was going to auto rate to positive.

Top rated seller (and as far as I know power seller) has absolutely nothing to do with the number of feedback you get, only the number of sales.

I get that you're trying to build up feedback because you're brand new (and that's more of an understanding reason that you're frustrated compared to others who have plenty of feedback, but still for some reason desire the validation of getting more) however we all had to start where you are. You just have to keep selling and eventually it will build up.

 Meaning that every single seller gets the same feedback.

@gator08041971
FWIW
Actually, when eBay went to the "only positive for buyers" program many BUYERS were upset.  They told me that they worked hard to be good trading partners, and were now angry that they had same 100% feedback score as the biggest scam buyers on the site.

Re: FEEDBACK RULE CHANGE

Automatic feedback would rob the entire system of meaning. In other words, if everyone gets a gold star for an effort made, then a gold star would cease to be an acknowledgement of excellence.

Re: FEEDBACK RULE CHANGE

I do NOT like this change!!  There have been times when I did not leave feedback because I did not think the seller deserved a 5 star rating, but was not bad enough I wanted to complain.  Such as when a seller creates a shipping label for the item so that it shows that the item is shipped, then it is 3 or 4 days after that before the carrier actually receives the package.  I guess I will have to leave negative feedback more often!  Automating the feedback process will NOT assure people get what they deserve!

Re: FEEDBACK RULE CHANGE

@d_r_teed1deb  This isn't a change that's being implemented - it was just a suggestion by the OP, and it's been suggested before. It's not something I think most people want and I doubt eBay has any interest in implementing it, since feedback is voluntary.
