Did you mean:

Explain the Refurbished function please.

I know what refurbished means, but why is it in clothing listings. I didn't know clothing could be refurbished. I clicked on it, and it takes me to my listing.  Which is new with tags. Don't understand the purpose.

Like a lot of things on eBay - the purpose is to use it when it makes sense, and ignore it when it doesn't.

This is ebay after all , if everything went without a glitch the world would implode .

Re: Explain the Refurbished function please.

It serves a similar function to forcing the eBay catalog on the Antique Photographs categories.

Still don't know what that function is but am positive they are related.

Re: Explain the Refurbished function please.

They think refurbished is a "nicer" word than used, even if it makes zero sense in some of the ways they're using it.

They also don't seem to be able to offer a sort tab for new OR 'refurbished' which is why your NWT item came up.

Re: Explain the Refurbished function please.

I had heard an ad on the radio for cotton sheets made in the USA - from recycled early 1900's sheets.

You can't get much softer than vintage/antique cotton anything! Wish I could remember the name of the company .............

Re: Explain the Refurbished function please.

One would think that would be a naturally self limiting resource/product.

Re: Explain the Refurbished function please.

One would think, anyway. I believe that they are expensive, so who knows how many are made?

But there are so many 'cutter' quilts and other like stuff at auctions - maybe they have an ad for buying this type of stuff?

Wish they would use refurbished code when it makes sense instead of writing new code that doesn't work.

Re: Explain the Refurbished function please.

Refurbished could mean replaced or resewn buttons or snaps; replaced zippers; professionally mended hems or seams. Even NWT clothing may require fixing. Have you never bought a brand-new blouse or dress and discovered loose buttons, extraneous threads or even improperly attached trim or decoration?

Technically, it also could refer to clothing having been laundered or dry-cleaned.

On the other hand, apparently eBay has added "refurnished" as a condition to all categories, just in case the item has been altered in any way. Today I saw the term "refurbished" as a possible condition in the cosmetics category!

But his is New with tags.

Re: Explain the Refurbished function please.

Does refurbished make any more sense than having the condition options on such things as disposable diapers, or sanitary napkins be New or Used?

Just when you think it can't get any more scrood up - ebay will find a way.  And usually just before the holidays!

Chances are pretty close to 100% that neither does eBay. If you're expecting competence, sadly, you're in the wrong place.

...and a week or more after it was first noticed, they are still offering refurbished condoms as an alternative to new ones. I understand that they are rinsed thoroughly before repackaging, so no worries...

And I recall a post back a few weeks about refurbished disposable diapers .
