Every update there is something that sets of the hoards of sellers.... this is the end!

I can't believe eBay did this.....

This will be the end of my "business" on eBay......

I can't afford this! Why would eBay do this!......

And on and on it goes.

hordes of sellers = a large group of sellers, masses of sellers

"Hoards of sellers" - the supply from which the hordes of sellers draw to make their listings

I read the update.  I don't see any giant issues.  The fixed price listing may be a problem for someone, but no one is forcing you to use it.

However, over 80% of all listings are fixed price, so the answer is not that simple.

That isn't exactly what Brian Burke stated.  He didn't say 80% of all listings are fixed price.  He said 80% of the fixed price listings are GTC.

His quote is:

"I hope you give it a try -80% of fixed price listings are already GTC and if you are removing listings, you can't sell them and I assume your goal is to sell items."

I wasn't quoting Brian Burke.

But a lot of sellers do quit.

Not all are so dramatic.

All I have to do is look at my list of favorite sellers to see how many are no longer here.

If you read these boards, there are those who have posted about slow sales from a once thriving business.

Sometimes they post & post for help, then they are finally gone.

The GTC will probably make it so we will not list or sell as much.

too much time, not enough $$.

But, we are as sellers, Ebays customers.

If We don't like what ebay is selling, we will do like anywhere else we are customers.

We won't buy. Easy enough.

We had a life before ebay. We will have a life after ebay.

I didn't note the name of the seller who came up with  a way of having 10 day Fixed Price listings.

Have a 10 day Auction with Buy It Now.

Jesus! For the sake of my spirit, do not, I repeat, do not joke about 10 days auction, they may read "10 days Fixed" listings and that will be the end of us. Smiley Wink Smiley Very Happy

Ebay used to be one of the top shopping sites on the internet back when Amazon was a place that only sold books.  How does it rank now?  Maybe sellers had a right to be concerned each and every one of those times.

Well in my case 100% of fixed price listings are GTC so this update will have no effect on my work.

I only see this as a problem for sellers who have more items to sell than their allotted monthly free listings and wish to switch them in and out.  For them choices will have to be made, which could be upgrading to a store with more free listings, or simply cutting back.  I can't imagine the grueling task of manually ending and relisting all items every month.

List more, sell more. Goodwill that other, uh, stuff.

Feeling sleepy? There's an app for that.

It sounds to be quite a bit of work.  The seller hub tools are there to make that job easier. Many sellers will get their system down and not miss a beat.

Still "one of the top", eBay is the number 2 ecommerce site in the USA, further down the list (still somewhere between #5 & #10) Internationally because some of the domestic Chinese sites (eg: Taobao) are bigger than eBay or Amazon. WalMart are in 3rd place on  most lists, I expect they will be #2 in the not too distant future.

As I said, NOT making light of anyone's concern here~but it has been called that by many others~and things were accepted and life went on.

It's been said for ages that over 80% of all listings were fixed price.  Whether or not they are all GTC is another matter.

Yes, they post about slow sales and then when eBay gives them something to get more sales, they go off the deep end in revolt.

But it has yet to be proven that changing all FP listings to GTC will in fact increase sales or whether they will just all sink to the bottom, especially as they will no longer show in either newly listed or ending soonest.
Reality is the leading cause of stress.
