I am an Ebay top rated plus seller with a premium level store and 100 percent positive feedback.. I have actually decided to cancel my store as of April first. It is simply not worth paying for a store subscription to an E commerce site that is dictating to me how to sell my items. As a seller, leaving any items as good til cancelled removes the sense of urgency for any buyer to actually buy. Not only that, it places the longer standing items in a stagnant place where they are seen buy fewer potential buyers. For those reasons, I will be moving my store to a couple of other E commerce sites that are more seller friendly.

Same here! You totally hit all the problems on the head! We go down in viewing order and they still do not remove items we have sold and they relist them again! Just caught two more for more than two years. that were listed again. You have to watch eBay all the time now! Good luck! Where you going?

Well I just read that Ebay is soliciting sellers in Greensboro NC and other locations so maybe their tactic is out with the old in with the new? Guess they are saying we are no longer wanted and don't let the door hit you in the rear on the way out! Hope someone comes up with an alternative!

Welp, my store is set to end when the clock runs out 31 March. eBay asked me to do a survey about why I ended it-- dozens of options, but I hammered home that is was GTC. I am sure they will listen.
HAHAHAHA. ahem.
Now to cancel any GTC listings I have going. Don't want to forget those and have them run up the bill.

You are so right. The time would be perfect for another business to come in and operate like eBay did once upon a time and solicit all of the unhappy small sellers here on this site. I am going to be sad to give up my selling. I always remember the good days and tend to forget the bad times in whatever I do. Good luck to us!

I agree with you. I have already ended my store subscription and have been moving all of my listings to my other (not eBay) stores (where they do get seen and sold). I only have a few more listings to move.

I paid a lot of my own bills with eBay, and made them a little money too, but nothing lasts forever. I've got all my goods moved to two other selling sites, I guess I'll still do the 50-auctions thing here if that stays reasonable.
That sounds like a good plan. In my case, I will have to keep the store through end of September to avoid the early termination fee. eBay got what it wanted-small sellers to leave. It's been a great ride, but it's just not fun anymore. Good luck to all of you in whatever you decide to do!
I ahve taken all my listings down and will not list in April. I will not return to GTC, I ahve found other sites to list on.

It seem`s that ebay failed in communicating to it`s sellers, what the actual benefit of GTC was to be .I would like to know? I have about 300 listings about 200 now GTC close over a 3 day period. There is no sense of urgency , and although the number of watchers have increased .I cannot contact any of the watchers to incentivise them to make a purchase.I am frustrated .

We anticipated a screwing of the sellers by eBay with the upcoming "spring update". We closed our store at the end of January, ended all of our listings, transferred them to other sites and stocked up on KY jelly for the anual eBay screwing (not really on the KY). I have to say, we were a bit worried at first because we've been selling here since 2002. But............... the other sites, with LOWER fees actually have been a blessing in disguise!!! It took a couple of weeks, but after that, we were able to maintain our sales level, but most importantly, we were able to INCREASE our overall Net return by only having to pay a 3%-5% fee charged by those sites as compared to eBay's 9.15% or 10%. Mathematically it did not make sense to us to continue to pay for a yearly Premium store subscription, when the only benefit from that is a .85% reduced fee rate (9.15% vs 10%) . That .85% "savings" equates to a whopping $85 per $10,000 in sales. Now, if you generate almost 85K a year in total annual sales, then the .85% difference makes sense because the savings you would see in final value fees would be equal to that of a yearly Premium store subscription. If you do anything LESS than that amount, then you have to decide if it's worth it or not. Sure, there are the 500 free listings, but we typically don't list more than 200 items a month except for during the holiday season. Anything above 50 free listings is billed at a .35 listing fee for a max of 30 days (another site has a 4 month listing duration of .20, with no forced auto relisting and only 5% in fees). At .35 per listing for anything above the 50 free, if we would list an additional 170 listings that would equal our "monthly subscription fee" for the store.
eBay actually counts on people and small businesses to just trust them blindly and not run the numbers for themselves. This forced GTC format actually reduces the value of your item listed by the amount of the listing fee each month (if you don't have or pay for a store and have to pay to list it). After 12 months, your $25 item is now worth $20.80 (assuming a .35 listing fee each month). Now, let's say it cost $5 to ship, your total Gross for the sale is $30. Take off $3 for ebay fees, 2.5% for Paypal would be .75, $5 for shipping and the $4.20 it cost to list it GTC for 12 months. Your NET return would be a whole $17.05..... 31.8% LESS than what you had it listed for!!! Yaaaaayyyy. It doesn't really matter the cost of the item that's listed, the Percentage doesn't change, ie; you'd make $68.20 on a $100 listing using the same scenario. Now, when you factor in the fact that eBay Throttles listings, seasonal times/markets, supply & demand, to us, it really didn't seem worth it any longer to keep our store. We will continue to sell here, but in very limited quantities.

I am also ending all items and will no longer sell on Ebay. I found that when resisting in bulk, eBay still gives the option for 30 days but when you submit, it reverts to Good till cancelled. Spent about 30 minutes on the phone with eBay to show them the problem. This IS an epic fail eBay! I consistently sell items, generating money for eBay but no longer. I like the 30 day fixed price format and the ability to choose when and how to resist items.

GTC is a terrible idea. I am away a lot, so I have to end all my items, and relist them later.

Thanks for doing the math. for a moment I was considering upgrading my store but I think I will stick with bowing out and not even doing this Olympic math quandary for eBay.

According to my ebay dashboard my sales in the last 31 days are DOWN 54%. And ebay shows their figures are up 5%. No way that if my sales are down so hard and other sellers are complaining, then ebay must be lying about their sales numbers. What do you think? This GTC policy has got to go!!!
