Ending an Auction with a Bid Early

Could I end an auction early so that I can go ahead and ship everything?

No. If you ended the auction early it would not be fair to potential bidders. Some people might be waiting for the last day of the auction to place their bid.

Yes, you can end early selling to the highest bidder.

Re: Ending an Auction with a Bid Early

Why would you want to end an auction early to "ship everything"?

Why wouldn't you run the auction to the end to get the best possible price?  Usually the action is in the last few minutes.   People wait until the last few minutes to bid.

Is someone trying to bull you into doing something?

You can end your auction early.

The highest bidder whe you end the auction is the winner.

But you can't be sure that the current auction bidder will pay promptly.

A seller can end an auction at any time to sell to the current high bidder, although as noted above there are arguments against it (unfair to other potential bidders, giving up likely later higher bids, etc.). Your bidder might be surprised by the early ending. Reassure them, as you have explained here, that you are going out of town.  That might help to encourage them to pay promptly.  If they don't pay on time, you might consider taking the item(s) with you and shipping from your destination.

If you are really worried about being paid on time, you can even cancel the bid(s) during the process of ending the auction, so there is no buyer. But there is a penalty fee for that (see chart in page linked above).
