Actually it's not that difficult with a stick of gum, a stick of most types of metal, plastic, etc. It's just more difficult with some sticks than with others.

Looking at the recent posts from suspended sellers, I’d say not buying/selling cheap intangible items for feedback and not dropshipping mass produced tat or counterfeits from China is much more effective than positive thinking.

Well, that would be impossible except for one situation. If one of the sticks is still on the tree, then it will grow longer, while the other one will not.
I think that possible the point of this saying is to look at the problem in a different way, from a different viewpoint. Think outside the box.
