Emergency Plan

As many of you know I'm still recovering from a long term injury/illness. I started feeling bad on new years eve. On new years day my friend too me to the ER. I had some kind if infection and they wanted to admit me for antibiotics IVs.

My ebay emergency plan went in to action. My store got put on away. My friend was able to fulfill and ship out 4 pending orders. It went off flawlesy without a hitch.

I hope everyone has a ebay emergency plan in place when the unexpected happens.

What a crappy way to start the new year. I hope everyone had a better new year than me.  😉

Re: Emergency Plan

@inhawaii Oh hun noooo. You make a good point about getting your emergency ducks in a row, health can turn on a dime.

Didn't feel well on Halloween,  3 days pass I could hold nothing down. Went to ER, weak sweaty  and guess what, I wasn't leaving there for 2 weeks.  I had Colon Cancer, removed rt half, still not working right and now a good old UTI comes along.

James and I have been sick buddies and having this emergency ebay plan is very important to him, he is living it.

Me? Gosh I've been a buying fool on the bay, so many things to cheer me up!

Let's all have a good year free of pain!

Re: Emergency Plan

You made your point about having an emergency plan the first time.  You really didn’t need to drive it home a second time.  Please take care and get well soon!

I am not a big fan of apps, but a selling apps is a real help in emergencies.

At the beginning of the pandemic when I was admitted to the hospital for heart surgery, I put my Amazon listings on vacation using their app. That avoided needing to implement the other aspects of my emergency plan.

Now that the Ebay part of your plan is done, follow the next step - GET WELL.

I was litterally in the ER trying to figure how to time away on the app and couldn't figure it out. I ended up using chrome.

Re: Emergency Plan

Sorry to hear- sending you healing wishes——

I am a 1 person show too for my 2 shops even though 4 other adult family members board here.

However, they are bored by my inventory, and can’t be bothered.

Hope you get all well soon-

Re: Emergency Plan

Get well James. As always, take care of your health FIRST. Try not to push it to open eBay back up too soon.

Glad you had your emergency plan ready.  (I have mine as well, my son wrote documentation on it.)

Prayers up for you my friend,  right now. Get well soon.

@inhawaii

The app is a real pain.

I'm glad you figured it out, but most importantly that you got to the hospital for that infection before it went very wrong. Here's praying you're on the mend soon.

Re: Emergency Plan

FWIW, in the future for anyone looking....

In the APP.

MY eBay,  Settings (at the bottom)

And Time Away is within Settings.

Doubt I would have found it it in the emergency room.....

A year ago I was in the emergency room after hitting my head from a fall watching my auctions end... it would have been awesome to be at home safe in my room doing that. Some people got a little impatient for invoices, but I got out of hospital a couple hours after they ended... just said "sorry was out tonight" and left it at that. Fortunately I didn't have a concussion, but now I have a lot more crooked teeth (fell on my face, thankfully didn't break my nose).

Re: Emergency Plan

Oh James, I am sorry you're dealing with more of this!  I hope that they are fixing you up & sending you back home soon, where you can heal in your own enviroment.  There's a lot to be said for that!  My husband just had a surprise hip replacement a couple of weeks ago & they send you home SAME day usually, so you can heal at home where you're more comfortable.  I'm glad you got the difficult part of the year out of the way asap, the rest is gonna be smooth sailing mate, I just KNOW it!  You deserve a smooth 2026!

Re: Emergency Plan

@inhawaii : you are coherent and making a whole lot of sense despite being medicated and sick.  do you realize that you are far more understandable than a few of the (healthy) folks who have posted here?

In Canada they don't keep people in the hospital very long... I was sent home three hours after having my gallbladder removed, and when I had the pulmonary emboli, they sent me home with a prescription (after giving me the first dose there) pretty much as soon as they diagnosed me. It takes an awful lot to be in hospital overnight here. Most surgery is day surgery here.

@sin-n-dex  A lot is here too.  But I surely expected a joint replacement to be a multi-day stay.  Nope!  0 nights is typical.  1 night is common.  Hubby did get 1 night but that was b/c he had to have a certain PT requirement that he wouldn't have been able to get soon enough.  Actually there was a whole set of requirements that he had to be able to do to be released, things like dress yourself, pee, walk up & down 3 stairs, a couple more, but since you have a nerve block, they're not hard to do LOL.

I would certainly expect pulmonary embolism to be overnight if for no other reason than to watch you.  Wow!  I do know that you guys have to wait forever for elective surgeries (I also learned that joint replacement is elective in most cases), but I didn't know that you sent people home that fast.  I used to want to move there, but then I spent a lot of time with various Canadians & heard all the downsides LOL.

That is exactly what I had to do the next morning after hip replacement in order to leave.
