Ebay says i couldnt have done more and then gives the buyer a full refund?

Shocked and so disappointed to receive the following message  on the 01/08/2021

“Hi Paul, We reviewed this case and decided to issue the buyer a full refund. We didn't receive valid proof of delivery from you.

I don’t know what to say as I received this message on the 14/07/2021 “Paul, I'm not going to beat around the bush here and be straight forward with my response. You've fulfilled your obligation as a seller and certainly you'll not be held responsible for the non delivery as the item is in customs and buyer needs to communicate with their local customs office.

You can rest assured as once the case is escalated to us it shall be closed in your favour and the funds released to your account.

”

What else more could I have done…..

Item has tracking and has been tracked to customs and buyer confirms this and ebay did too but the buyer hasnt collected the item from customs. Ebay confirmed that there was nothing i could have done more the sellers case of the item not being recieved is false as i have done everything i can as a seller. Funds were meant to be restored to my account but then all of a sudden they refund the buyer.

     Out of curiosity what country did this ship to?? There have been known issues with some customs officials in certain countries being less than honest. A lot of things disappear or are opened and scavenged through, contents removed and the box resealed before the buyer actually gets the package.

     When I was doing a lot of foreign travel there were a number of countries where it was a bad idea to check any luggage. I learned this the hard way after several pieces of checked baggage either never arrived or the locks were removed and there were items missing from the checked bags.

It was shipped to China and the buyer confirmed that she had contact with customs and said she had a problem with getting it released due to it being valued over $300 or something like that so i told her she would have to work things out with customs as i dont speak chineese or get it returned and i'll give her a refund no problemo. I thought she was maybe hoping for a refund then she could go and collect it.

It's a common scam, they let it sit in customs, they file a claim, they get their money back, and then they pick up the package.

Doesnt exsist in Ireland but from now on i'll be shipping to EU only

I appealed the decision and it was granted in my favor, i have to say that was super fast, my stomach i still in knots as i was considering leaving the platform so for now i'll just restrict where i ship to. Thanks for the all the messages everyone its been of huge support to know someone was listening.🤗

I had a similar experience shipping to China about a year ago.  Ended up having to refund $385.   What happened after that is any ones guess but about 6 months later, to my surprise,  I received the package back.  So I did eventually get the merchandise back when I thought all was lost.  I hope this works out as well for you.  The moral of the story is don't ship expensive stuff to China.

I second that, i'll certainly not be shipping to asia no more. I tend to learn my lessons the first time around😅
