Ebay needs to ban Asia!

I am amazed a company as big as EBAY would allow these countries to sell on their site. 90% of the items are junk or fake. They also lie about their location. I bought an item stating it was from L.A. and when I went to my paypal it said the seller was located in Hong Kong. I immediately canceled the order. Ebay needs to band them. If they want to sell on ebay then it should be just the ebay sites in those countries.

If ebay were to ban Asia, then ebay would go under. (It will anyway, probably, but certainly sooner if it bans trade with Asian countries.)

I totally understand that desire to see them banned but that's probably not practical or productive in trade deals, etc. That said, the counterfeiting should abso-poso-tivelutely be banned because it's illegal, period. Laws need to be followed - and this whole global thing just isn't working the way it's set up now. I like to think it will fail - "bigly" on its own, but luckily investigations and changes are in the works in our new business-friendly administration here in the U.S. so keep the faith that things will improve. I keep up to date on what's going on with the FTC and trade deals etc., and it really looks like there's reason to be optimistic now.

There are plenty of foreign sellers (not just from China) that hold inventory in the US. While there are some who misrepresent the location of their items the simple fact that a seller is registered in another country DOES NOT mean they ship from that country.

In other news, there is a huge portion of buyers who specifically come to eBay to purchase from China (and might buy one of your items while they are here).

Certainly there is some poor quality merchandise sold dirt cheap from China but there is also plenty of quality goods. I've bought a lot from China via eBay and for the most part I've received good quality merchandise, mostly things which are not available from any other source other than as the same thing with a US brand slapped on it and the price bumped up by huge amount.

Asia is a rather large continent to remove from one's market.  I doubt seriously that eBay would consider doing it.

If you want quality - pay higher money and shop American instead of China.

Just hold your breath until eBay has finished setting up their new fullfillment warehouses here in the U.S..

The location of a seller does not determine the location of an item. And drop-shipping is a common practice, and some sellers in Asia warehouse their inventory in the USA.

I am not amazed, because I took Intro to Economics in college. I think it makes perfect sense.

eBay invested a lot of time and resources to court China in particular and other Asian markets in general.

I don't think it agrees that it needs to ban Asia, either in whole or in part.

By the way, Asia consists of 48 countries.  Do you want eBay to ban all of them?

How about  Israel?  No?   South Korea?  No?  Singapore?  No?
