Ebay metrics and limited selling!!

I have been buying and selling on Ebay since 1998 with over 714 feedback all perfect.Somehow i forgot to put my account on hold.

I sold two items while i was in florida and I explained to the buyer it would be a month before i could ship the item. The items were books priced at under $10. The buy were good with this.

Now ebay and metrics are limiting my selling and raised the fee they charge me. I called Ebay but the computer makes all the decisions and I didn't get anywhere.

any suggestions, other then to start using Marketplace?

How about you?

Do you have any helpful advice for the OP, or do you just come here to complain about others?

I don't understand why some people use a different account when posting on here.  You claim to have 714 FB but I only see 12.

I have a real problem with people claiming something under different accounts.  It's like meeting someone in person who claims to be someone else.

Maybe if you are a personal seller.

But if you work for a company that has multiple BM stores tied to their eBay channel, I'm not going to tie my personal opnions to the company.

That's dumb PR. I'm going to use a personal account.

Sadly I don't buy much of anything from eBay because i don't like to wait. I love my prime.

Anyways I think it's a dumb argument that I need to use the companies official account in order to post on a community forum.

Re: Ebay metrics and limited selling!!

It can be a costly mistake to forget you are a seller and have active listings when you are taking time away.  The $$ value of the sale or sales doesn't matter, it is all about transactions.

Two issues while you were away and they created defects on your Seller Dashboard are NOT enough to cause you to fall Below Standard and incur the penalty fee rate of 6% on top of your regular Ebay fees.  Two transaction simply can't do that to you, there must be other defects.

You should review the details of your Seller Dashboard and learn what transaction actually caused you to fall below standard.  I encourage sellers to frequently view their Seller Dashboards so they can be proactive if a section is getting into trouble instead of reactive when something like this happens.  Here is a link.

https://sellerstandards.ebay.com/dashboard?region=US

To work you way out of this mess, the first thing you have to do is study your Seller Dashboard and LEARN what actually caused the problem.  Learn from those mistakes and strive to not let anymore happen if you can.

Run sales or do what you can to increase your transactions as a seller.  You can work out of the penalty fees faster by diluting the numbers.

The rules shouldn't apply to you.

You have perfect feedback.

I know you are being sarcastic as do likely any other poster that comes to the threads frequently.  But the OP is a relatively new seller and they may not realize you are being sarcastic so your post can cause them more frustration and upset that simply isn't necessary just so you can post a joke.

Re: Ebay metrics and limited selling!!

EBay does not use feedback, which is both voluntary and the opinion of the buyer, to assess seller accounts.

Or for that matter to assess buyer accounts.

It's a relic of the 20th century internet when buying online was edgy and scarey.

And not how we pay for pizza delivery or new underpants.

It's odd that just two late shipments would raise the seller's fees that much, unless they lost TRS status. I'm not clear on what is required for US sellers to maintain TRS and its discounted fees. (I have Global TRS which doesn't show on dotCOM but does in the rest of the world, but also doesn't have such stringent shipping requirements.)

"any suggestions, other then to start using Marketplace?"

The defects will fall off your account in a year from the date they were received.  Even if you reached eBay by phone or chat, they won't remove the defects.

Until then, the fees will be higher. You can keep selling here and hope to dilute the defect percentage numbers until they reach the acceptable level. Other than that, nothing else can be done here.

Same rules for all sellers. Mistakes can and will cost us.

You could  have put  your selling account on hold while you were in Florida.  Always had access to my eBay account at hotels/motels business centers, even at casinos and of course my cell phone.  Where there is the will there is a way.
