We just had a chargeback and neg feedback left for an item that we accepted a buyers remorse return for an item. They opened and closed the return, then opened a chargeback and left neg feedback. After reaching out to customer service on three occasions over the past 3 weeks- all of the sudden, yesterday a group of messages showed up all at once on ebay's back end- BUT STILL DO NOT SHOW ON OUR EBAY MESSAGES ANYWHERE!. The buyer was asking why we were not responding, and why we were ghosting them. One message had tracking info!. Absolutely none of those messages have come through to our account as of yet....

Thankfully we were able to get the buyers phone # from the original order and contact them and work it all out with no hard feelings. They mentioned that they thought it was odd because we answered within minutes to every question but then all of the sudden never responded again.

I did just receive an ebay message from a potential customer yesterday that was from a conversation from 3 weeks ago! What on earth is going on with the messaging system?

Wondering if there's a sitewide ticket on this or if it's not affecting that many members yet. I'm not seeing a lot of reports so assuming it's not widespread. Or if it is widespread, nobody realizes it because they don't know they're missing messages.

This kind of error disputes those who seem to think its never the ebay site causing seller problems.

Hey @wastingtime101! I will be sure to update the Tech Board this morning and there is an ALERT number that opened for this very early this morning. If there are any members running into this issue they can contact customer support and let them know that they are experiencing ALERT14632.

This is one of those "cases" where depending on people to report the problem is totally problematic.........and useless to see how widespread the problem is.......

If you aren't getting messages, how do you know you aren't?

Sure, some may get no answers from buyers to their questions.......but how are they to know if it's the buyer simply not responding or a glitch on ebay?

I have to agree with dhbookds; this is an issue where buyers/sellers may not realize what's going on to get it reported. I've had a few buyers ghost me recently when I was addressing questions they had, but have no way of knowing if those buyers decided to stop communicating or if they sent messages caught up in this tech error and think I'm ghosting them.

Could you check back in with us on this one when there's a resolution to let us know what the result is? In other words, let us know if it ends up being a go-forward fix, or if it will be a comprehensive fix that populates back messages so we can see what was missed and address things as needed.

I noticed ebay has a new messaging system they wanted me to try out. I tried it and didnt like it. I ended up with a spinning wheel and message not going thru. Are you using the new messaging system? Maybe it's causing problems with the old messaging system. IDK.
