Care to expound for those of us who are not flakey bookers?

Why do I have a sudden urge to revert back to checks, money orders and cash in an envelope?

Thanks for the compliment, but you don't have to be a "flakey booker" to read the announcement. The link is from ebay.
I'm reserving my comments for later.

Why not open the link and read the announcement? The OP posted a link to the announcement here on the boards not Facebook.

It means Ebay is going to start handling their own payment processing, with Paypal as a payment option, instead of their current credit card processor.
Ebay can't handle running a website, how the heck will they handle processing payments? I forsee a train wreck

I know, it brought to mind George Strait's "Ocean Front Property" . 🙂

Me too, at least for some sellers, not all. I'm convinced that there is a high rent section on ebay where it always works as intended all the time. 🙂
Lots of questions, and they are to be directed to an email, so no public FAQ page for it.

Well. That may not be a bad idea if they do it right. I've considered suggesting that a few times in recent weeks. Just think, they could potentially take back refunds issued to buyers in error. Or have new buyers place a CC on file for payment disputes.

didn't eBay try this before?
When PayPal was all the rage and everybody was signing up for it, eBay fought that.
Finally they rolled out their own payments and it failed miserably. Then eBay just bought PayPal.

How long until eBay removes the option to block people that do not have a PayPal account? I guess they at least got that right. I know people who don't shop here because they think paying is weird.

Interesting but not at all shocking that the announcement was posted 12 minutes after the weekly chat was closed.

"Payments intermediation will bring significant benefits for eBay sellers...." Sounds too much like the old 'good news for sellers' spin that was not good news at all. I think ebay ditched the "good news for sellers" wording.

I've never lost that urge!
