Ebay is pushing managed accounts (12.55% + .30 per transaction) claiming lower fees. On a recent transaction I did a calculation for a recent sale and found that my ebay fees were higher than using my calculator for ebay + paypal fees. It turns out that ebay is now basing their % on not just selling price + shipping, but also the tax. This automatically increases the fee for the tax. This may seem trivial but considering that Etsy only charges you 5% fee, this makes me look elsewhere to do business.

I have 6 selling accounts on eBay with 1500 listings. It costs $0 per month in insertion fees.
On Etsy just the listing fees would cost me $75 per month.
Holy **bleep**, how do you keep up? I'm toying with the idea of creating a second account for something and even before doing it I already feel like it will be a headache to keep track of.

It's my understanding that by August 1 they fees will be 12.55% plus $0.49 instead of $0.30.

I've given up on Ebay. Nabsack is the way to go (~2% seller fee) with shipping + same perks as Ebay (without the frustration).

Please, I am so sick of them gouging us. Every year it gets a little bit worse. Every problem I've had they have not helped me with over a 10-year there has been many. I closed my account and came back, unfortunately! I know I need to sell on a different platform but it's a little scary to make the big change.

This thread has a lot of relatives on The Walking Dead.
You've revived a thread over a year old...aka...a zombie thread!
A mod will be by....ANNNNYYYY......minute to close it.
I love these.
But quickly, before the above does happen...take a look at the other places and tell me it's better. I don't think it is.
And again...I cannot resist the urge to reply to a zombie thread. No wonder so many people tell me I'm part of the problem. Hrmmmf.

I list a ton of stuff and your comment about the rates made me go over and look.
I;m not sure where you got that 5% figure from. This is what I see:
You are charged 20 cents to list (free on eBay). AND if your listing, for example, has 10 items you first pay 20 cents to list it . But if all 10 sell you pay 20 cents time 10 = 2.00 (again, eBay is free) (Yes that 20 cents times 10 is not in my screen shot but then that is why they have those “other pages” that maybe they hope you won’t read.)
Then you pay 6 1/2% transaction fee PLUS an additional 3% plus an additional 25 cents as a payment processing fee.
PLUS if someone come to your listing through an ad that Etsy placed you are charged an 15% “Offsite ad fee”
Not really sire how that is so much better than eBay.

It's all a big rip off - I was just made aware of "Kidizen if you have used clothes to sell - I'm just now getting my inventory loaded so I have no sales results yet. I did try Poshmark it's was just an ebay clone with more spam.
I had a return when the US Mint zapped us back in March on the American Womens Quarters - eba said they were here to help and this is how they helped me: took away my top seller status for 12 months and now charge me nearly 20% in fees - THANKS FOR ALL THAT HELP EBAY.

I don't really know how you can specify 12 month as how long ebay can take away TRS status. I think the going rate right now is 100 sales and $1000 in 12 months. If you do that in one month...guess what...you get TRS back. I know. I did it. Well...I did it in 3 months but what's a couple of months when we are fudging numbers one way or the other anyway?
And now I'm working on getting TRS back again. I think I need....50 some more sales....and idk how many dollars. Sighs...

Im more annoyed that I’m paying fees on taxes even though I live in a tax free state. Seems illegal 🤷♂️

Now now @richard1rst let's not confuse this with facts.
