I made few boxes last week where I sold some gaming steelbooks. To save on cost instead of buying DVD sized boxes I just took some vinyl LP multi depth boxes that I actually only use for trays inside real boxes for vinyl shipments and made a few DVD sized boxes... my wife always says I'm really good at that sort of stuff but like I tell her, it takes a lot of time verses having the right box to begin with, but when a bundle of 25 cost $30 and you don't use them so often and sales are down looking to save as much costs as possible so you make a box 😉 Aside my profit on them was $3.50... so if I buy boxes I'm in the red.
I need to get to work making some smaller custom boxes for some of my recurring sales where a stock box gets me into the next 4oz price tier. when it was just an ounce for a nickle or so I did not bother, but now with 50 cents, 70 cents, and over a $ I get the box cutter out.
I don't usually do those larger boxes, but when I can source for $10, and sell for $100, I sometimes can't curb my buying. I have been able to back off on the items where I have to custom make a 108" length + girth box.

Some of the buyers need shaming.

I have several box sizes I always stocked + I take advantage of USPS free boxes for Priority Mail and Tape. I however rarely purchase boxes from retail stores, they are way expensive, sold by box and generally are never the sizes I need anyways. I order in bulk from supplier. Yet there are time I sell items I don't normally or not often that need its own box size and instead of buying boxes I generally can craft one. All my usual boxes for things I normally sell are sized to fit the item with certain extra space for protective padding, some that's bubble wrap, some it's bubble + air bags others bubble wrap and popcorn...and I buy all that bulk along with tape also. Good example of people spending way more then they should is the ebay shipping supplies... those prices are crazy I get double amount for same price from box supplier + free shipping and delivered within 2 days via UPS. Another good example is air bags... i've seen people go buy boxes at staples that have like 100 bags for near $20 yet I get 320 bags free shipping from amazon for $10-$11 (I also have a machine to fill the bags but buying the 320 count is cheaper then buying the air bag rolls for the machine)....in any case shipping materials cost and I'm super OCD about saving on costs!

They actually used to be able to give negative feedback for buyers too but eBay did away with that several years ago. It's too bad...I understand why eBay disallowed sellers to leave neg fb...if people could have just left factual feedback - good or bad - maybe it would not have been a problem. Unfortunately, the feedback system became more of a personal attack than just feedback about the transaction itself so eBay put a stop to it.
...too bad though...
