Beware!!! Ebay now charges a whopping 13% on your items, this includes 13% of your money that you spend on shipping labels when you offer free shipping to buyers and believe it or not 13% on federal taxes!! When the transaction is complete they take 13% of the money you collect in full, including the shipping fees you pay and the taxes. Furthermore it has taken up to 3 WEEKS to get a penny from a sale since they got rid of Paypal and now they hold your money. Ebay said they are vetting me! Ive been a member for almost 20 years with 100% feedback that I worked hard to earn. I AM DONE.
EXAMPLE: My item was listed for $37 with free shipping. Ebay took 13% from the total $37 even though I spent almost $10 of that on shipping (free to customer) . Then they added the taxes making the total over $40 and they charged 13% on that total figure. UNBELIEVABLE!!

Oh ya, I ended up with $21 bucks on a $37 sale.

How could you have this many feedback as a seller and not know, to the penny, how much it costs to sell here?
When broken down, over all, the cost to sell on eBay hasn’t changed for a decade.

Charge has been done on shipping for many, many years.
What federal tax are the fees charged on? Have not experienced that.

Eliminate Free Shipping or raise your Buy it now price.
Not trying to be a jerk, but 13% is far better than brick and mortar costs.
I know... I get it... but maybe your math is off...

Another “beware” post?
Sigh.

As you included shipping, it was actually a $27 sale
$21 out of a $27 sale looks pretty good.

As has been explained again and again and again, nothing has really changed much from the time PayPal processed the payments. I think what is throwing many people like you off is the 10% eBay got from PayPal for every sale you made is now collected by eBay. Would you rather prefer PayPal gets it? Why should eBay make money for PayPal instead of keeping it in-house?
As for the shipping, how you price your items is up to you. Include the free shipping in the price, example list the item for $47 and offer free shipping or charge $10 for shipping. You should also consider sourcing items with higher profit margins. Most people who offer free shipping do so on very expensive items or cheap items they have in large quantities.

that's like 77.77%

...I've figured out long ago that to be an eBay's seller isn't as easy as 1,2,3 but an ultimate multitasking especially super skill in math...

try ebid. you can export all your listing there and list for free. It could end up bigger than this place

Oh on Ebid you can go back to using Paypal instead of MP. I think they have a shot. Might take Ebid some time, but the site it quite nice

*General Thought*
Are there really that many sellers here that really can't sympathize with some of these OPs in regards to ebay and their method of monetizing everything that they can, for as much as they can, as often as they can, at the cost to only the seller? ebay doesn't have a dime on the table but makes millions every year off the sweat of others - and they don't even run an up-to-date site.
Oh well, I guess getting too old to care all that much, isn't all that bad, after all. The little irks still can make one go hummmmm in the dark, though.
(personal opinion - your mileage may vary)

If you are done, then why do you still have active listings?

EBay is a global business, not an individual. That is why i find it hard to attribute human emotions or actions to it, such as greed.
There is a cost to conducting commerce online. I don’t grasp the fuss over this fact. After all, eBay supplies a highly integrated retail platform that enables me to earn as a small rural seller. Where else can i tap an affordable world-wide market? So I am grateful for it and find the fees are fair, especially compared to auction houses or consignment stores that often charge 50% of the sale total.
Not everything is a good fit to sell here. One must be selective so items can be priced with all expenses rolled in. Otherwise a profit cannot be made.
EBay isn't perfect by any means. There are an irritating number of flaws. Still, it works for my business.
