Ebay data unreliable, making it difficult to make selling decisions

Ebay at the moment is a mess. I frequently follow other sellers to see what is working (selling) and what is not. One seller I follow has over 13,000 active listings. When I search solds for this seller it only shows 50 total sales. This seller is a Youtuber and does an Ebay sales video regularly. Well the video with a screen shot of his sales activity shows 58 sales in one day (an average). This stinks. If the information shown on Ebay is unreliable, it makes doing research impossible. Ebay needs better IT people. Stop messing with the site and fix what you have first before making further changes. Frustrated!

It's a option by the seller, they can turn this feature on or off. Mine was off for a long time and I did not know why, and just recently turned it back on after I saw the option.

Why would a seller wan't to block what has sold. It is no mystery what is selling, if we can see all of their listings. And why would they selectively allow 50 of their sales to show. Really, selling on Ebay is now just one big headache. To try to make your way thru the maze of changes, exceptions, not to mention the algorithm, is just exasperating. You can't even see how many watchers an item has anymore (for other sellers).

That's the first I've heard that. Where exactly is that option?

Are you referring to the out of stock option?  That does stop some items from showing in the sold section but that's not actually what it is for.
