Ebay Trust and Safety Team is over stepping their boundaries!!!

So... Our account was Restricted this morning. Here is the message I received this morning:

Your account has been restricted because activity on it didn't follow our Counterfeit item policy. We don’t allow counterfeit items, replicas, or unauthorized copies.

What activity didn't follow the policy

We removed this item to protect you and your buyers, because we believe it is likely to be counterfeit. To make this decision we consider the details you provided about your item, reports we receive from brands or members of the community, buyer feedback and the reasons buyers returned the item. Please do not relist this item.

It must be made very clear that the item they are talking about is absolutely 100% authentic. It is a $12 bracelet. We have sold some and received nothing but positive feedback on them. I spoke with a Rep from the Trust and Safety Team and she said that there have been NO reports on our item by Customers or Manufacturers. It was flagged by their "Back Office". They have no proof or evidence that the item could be counterfeit, someone just flagged it because they "believe it is likely to be counterfeit".

We did do a refund for combined shipping as the Customer ordered 2 items at the same time. My employee mistakenly sent a return label when the Customer did not request it. I believe that the combination of these 2 things is what flagged the "Back Office". I hope this is not a trend that is going to continue as this is the second time in 2weeks, we have had issues with selling jewelry on Ebay.

I agree with not selling counterfeits on Ebay!!! I do not agree with someone somewhere making a unilateral decision to suspend our account, especially without more solid evidence and just a belief.  And, why not send us an email/message to ask for an items authenticity BEFORE causing our account to be restricted.

If anyone has experienced the same issues, please post. Hopefully, we can get a Moderator to read and help make a change in the "Back Office" which is somewhere definitely NOT in the US. Let's try to fix this bad idea before it even gets started.

Best of luck to all Sellers!!!

They generally don't restrict accounts unless there have been multiple warnings. Not sure if that's what happened in your case.

What brand was the bracelet and was it new or preowned? If $12 was too low of a price it could have red flagged a designer item as a potential fake.

GLORIOUS!

Confused about the switch to eBay discounted shipping? Read this discussion to make an informed decision about opt in / opt out.

It might have something to do with the many allegations of fake in your feedbacks from buyers.

Their evaluations aren't always fair. They have their best interests in mind, not yours.

One really big reason not to rely solely on eBay for your business.

Every seller who complains about counterfeit take downs says this.

Even the ones whose items are later shown to be clearly counterfeit.

eBays anti-seller practices are well documented. That “back office” is part of a team of eBay Executives who have been sent to PRISON.

Read the TOS, like you should have BEFORE you started selling here. eBay can take down, hide, or do anything with your listing, they want to. They can do it for any reason, or NO reason at all. You agreed to these terms when you decided to sell here.

It has happened to MANY sellers here, be it justified or not. Like it or not, that's the way it works. Like it or not, you agreed to those terms. We all did.

Re: Ebay Trust and Safety Team is over stepping their boundaries!!!

It is to eBay’s benefit to let every auction run to completion and to get paid.

If eBay ends an auction they’re losing their commission and fees, so they’re ending the auction to keep from suffering a backlash either from a bidder who has been mislead, or to avoid legal action brought by the trademark owner who has been damaged.

More and more auctions are being posted by sellers who do little to no research, and who become belligerent if their items are deemed inappropriate.  Nobody likes to be told their item is a fake, and they question the knowledge or experience of anyone who puts their profit in jeopardy.  Sadly, there are a lot of people posting fakes today even though they know the items are fake, and they’re angered when they’re caught red handed.
