OK, Is this for real? Ebay seems to be ditching Paypal for sellers and wanting to use my Bank Account to manage payments. Ebay wants my Bank Account information??? Forget IT Ebay!!! I am NOT (repeat NOT) giving you my Bank account info to manage my payments!! I have been perfectly happy with payments being made thru Paypal over the years and if ebay cannot continue this then I will move to another platform.
Please respond if you are in agreement!

That alone would make me close my account.

Way to wig out without any actual data.

I was notified well in advance - believe me, I had messages, emails, etc., advising me months before I was due to be changed over to managed payments. They even sent me the threatening 'or else' email. How much more 'formal' does it need to be?
But I can't see selling on a website where I don't keep up with changes - even just reading through some of the bulletins once a month to see what's up. There's no reason to be blindsided by this stuff. One may not like it and decide they don't want to go along with it, but there was so much notice given about these changes that I was tired of hearing about it (and getting threatening emails after a while).

That is what I did...I opened a separate account just for Ebay at my CU. Expecting people to link bank accounts to Ebay is NUTS.

You miss the point.

It's not that eBay has it - they all but certainly already do -; rather, by you giving it them they can share it without limit under the MP terms.
None of the providers you mention force you to waive professional secrecy rights.
And for what? This?!!!!
Please.

So I see so many replies by sheep (or perhaps ebay shills and fanboys?) that have the tone of "oh they have told you about this long ago", or "It's just your SSN, or any of your other private data" (who cares right?), as well as trying to imply that disagreeing with this practice is for some reason due to malicious intentions...
Some of these people have to educate themselves about online privacy. Yes, corporations don't like the idea that people want to keep it, but they are not goint to be dictating my life.
How about this: I have been an ebay and paypal user for over a decade and while by far it not being ideal, I have always enjoyed paypal being an intermediary for most of my online selling and buying experience.
I, for one HATE sharing all my personal info with any corporate entity that desires to implement a new policy asking me to do so, as maybe some people are blind and oblivions, but this opens up ways for these corporations to abuse and coerce you to abide by whatever terms they decide to impose, and I am not even talking about hacking and identity theft issues.
being based in Canada (mistakenly creating a .ca account back in the day) and selling exclusively on ebay.com, I'll be looking at any available option for me to keep that at bay and not have any direct interaction with my bank account. perhaps a new one would have to be created for this purpuse, or any other action that will limit ebay or anyone else from having their way. I do not care if other corporations are doing that, it doesn't mean I have to accept that.

We are going towards a new world order where every single transaction is indexed and taxed.

The eBay apologist advice that all but boasts how all over the place their personal information already is reminds me of that scene in Pulp Fiction where John Travolta warns Uma Thurman, after sharing a $5 milkshake, that he might have cooties...

Thurman volleys, "Cooties I can handle".

When they rolled this out about a year ago, I was freaking out as well. Finally, I opened an online checking account that I only use for ebay, funded with money from my Paypal account.
In my real life, I don't do online banking (to pay bills) because I don't feel it is secure. So the idea of allowing another company to have access to my checking account balance, that I use for my bills was not going to happen.
Check out Capital One 360 Online Checking. With a $300 balance, there is no fee.

What is exactly the difference from being "fairly transparent" and "far from transparent"?
To me this terminology is like trying to eat a "soup sandwich"

I have been using MP for awhile now and have had no problems other than the occasional funding transfer delays. I sell on multiple platforms and most of those use a similar process. Like a lot of other sellers I opened a separate account to handle the eBay funding transfers both for security reasons as well as for simplicity in my accounting. I have separate accounts for each of the other forums I sell on as well. If there is a security breach it is a lot easier to shut down one account and deal with that than to try and handle all the issues that would have to be dealt with if everything was linked to a single account.

They're going to microchip you first. Or have they already done that? [smh]

If they do you can easily remedy this by tasering yourself. Or an MRI will reverse the process.
