OK, Is this for real? Ebay seems to be ditching Paypal for sellers and wanting to use my Bank Account to manage payments. Ebay wants my Bank Account information??? Forget IT Ebay!!! I am NOT (repeat NOT) giving you my Bank account info to manage my payments!! I have been perfectly happy with payments being made thru Paypal over the years and if ebay cannot continue this then I will move to another platform.
Please respond if you are in agreement!

Oh my......talk about hopeful grasping of straws. They will get to you eventually, and it will be sooner than later.
It will come down to the wire where if you don't give them the info and switch to MP, you won't be selling here anymore. You can twist it any way you like.....but it's gonna happen.

"eBay has given its sellers nearly 3 years of advance notice " That is not a factual statement. We were not notified until 4th quarter 2020.

"very nearly the same" so does it cost you more or less?
04-29-2021 02:28 PM
I agree with you! I had it out with them last night on two items that sold and no $$$ . They say it could take a few days to show up..REALLY??? I want my $$$ NOW. They never were for the sellers!

Because eBay did not notify them at the same time. Many people have more to do than search boards for information. Many people did not find out until eBay notification 4th quarter 2020. It is eBay's responsibility to formally notify.

maybe people have other things to do than piddle around on the boards every day. Many categories were exempt. Maybe you should spend more time on living life. It is eBay's responsibility to formally notified each and every seller. Hello, maybe spend some time learning contractual law requirements.

like them using a foreign 3rd party processor who has their terms hidden at the end of sign up?

You make a lot of assumptions. PayPal only asked for it when individuals came near the 200 transactions and 20K. Of course now with the changes yes everyone will have to give it. Not one of our medical providers have our SS. Who would be so foolish to give it to them. There is no law or enforcement of and they cannot deny service. They only want it incase your a dead beat payor for their attorneys to locate you. Not everyone is so gullible to give out their SS. Educated people actually follow SS guidelines and do not give it out unless required by law.

Your banking account information that eBay wants is NOT private. It's printed on every one of your checks. You also didn't have a problem giving PayPal your SS#, as we all did. If you do leave, there's no need to announce it.

First they give us this new sh*tty seller overview and take away the classic view, now this. I'm sure a lot of sellers will bend to this new nonsense, but not me. We pay too much in fees already. They charge us 10% fees on shipping even though we make zero money from that, and now we're going to be paying just about the same in fees only to have eBay hold the funds for days. Maybe it's not a big deal to some, but when you need the money and have to wait days to get it, it hurts. And personally, I don't trust eBay saying to go ahead and ship my items on the flimsy promise that I'll get paid "eventually". Some people are saying with the new system that they still haven't received their money weeks or even a month after a sale. That's completely unacceptable. The horrible system of ship your item, get paid later is the entire reason I never joined mercari even though their fees are cheaper. The new system is a nightmare for sellers. Better for sellers, my a$$. No, better for greedy eBay. When are people going to realize that eBay doesn't give a sh*t about the sellers? As long as people keep bending to their new **bleep**, they will continue to push off more garbage. Also, eBay has next to no customer service anymore, so what happens if you never receive your money, as some people haven't? Do you think they're going to care that you're out fees, the item, & shipping? Think about it...
For those defending the changes that wish to stay, good luck to you. I'm not telling you how to live your life. But don't try to convince me how the new system is somehow great when it's really not.

unless you become a majority share holder and vote out those that have lost millions for this publicly traded company.

Yes it is.
We were told around 3 years ago and they have been switching sellers over for 2+ years now.

Well, call me foolish and call me gullible and call me uneducated. But I'm closer to 80 than 70, and many dozens of entities and institutions have, though the decades of my life, asked for my SSN and I've given it to them. That includes the schools I attended, doctors and hospitals, the local police department when I was a crime victim, along with all the entities, public and private, that absolutely require it. So far, I haven't had a single problem from doing so.
But even if you are a smart young chap, instead of an old idiot like me, you have surely given your SSN to a lot of people already.
You are required to give your SSN in any situation where your activities are reportable to the IRS or your state's tax / revenue department. You must provide it when you engage in any financial transaction subject to the Customer Identification Program, part of the Patriot Act that requires financial institutions to obtain your SSN in verifying your identity.
You must give your SSN to: Employers. Banks. Investment advisors and brokerage houses. Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion credit reporting companies. Companies from which you are applying for credit (credit cards, loans of any type, even cell phone service in some instances). Companies with which you have a cash transaction of $10,000 or more (car, RV, and boat dealerships, as examples.) Companies facilitating real estate transactions. The department of motor vehicles in your state. All federal and state agencies when applying for any benefit from either. There may be others who are required to obtain your SSN, but those I am positively sure of.
Bottom line, for me: I've always had enough things to worry about without looking for more.

You may have been notified of your switch date in Q4 2020, but eBay has been telling EVERYONE for three years that they were gradually moving EVERYONE to MP. If you failed to pay attention, that’s your problem.
