I have been a 13 year seller on ebay Top Rated Plus 100% on feedbacks, I have no negative feedbacks or neutrals. I sell approx. 150 items a week and nothing has changed in how we do business. Ebay has put me on payout holds 3 times in 3 months, the last time was the Monday prior to Memorial Day weekend, the latest was today Monday prior to 4th of July weekend. Ebay Managed payment staff and supervisors can offer no reason for this or remedy. Simply put its just how we do things now. This has happened with no notice, so the last time when I couldn't pay a supplier I lost him after 10 years of credit, this has cost my business and my personal life as I don't have the funds to take a planned trip this weekend. THIS IS WRONG & NEEDS TO STOP! WHY EBAY WANTS TO HURT ITS BEST SELLERS IS BEYOND ME BUT BEST GUESS IS THEY ARE MAKING MONEY DOING IT.

On hold 3 times.. for the Weekend Sales or? (since it was always Mondays); how much and for how long? Are you on Daily Pay Out or Weekly?

As posted above are you on "daily" payouts?
If not, you should go to your account and designate daily.. It wont include holidays & weekends but you will get your payments quicker for the most part.
The new payment processor Adyen (which is the function Paypal used to provide) doesn't pay out on weekends or holidays-much like banks. I don't think Paypal sent money to bank accounts on those days either but the money was visible in ones PP account.
Sorry you're have such troubles..

When you say "holds" do you mean for 1 item or for a large sum of $$?

You had over $10k worth of sales on Sunday alone, not to mention Friday and Sat. So, to fix this, stop having auctions end on the same day with that much $$. $10k is a threshold for Homeland Security, Banks, IRS reporting etc. so if you're payout in 1 day was going to exceed that- fix your listings.
What I don't understand is you have $280k in 3 months sold, that's $95k; and no vendor wants payment in 1 day, so why are you having problems paying a vendor in a typical 30 day billing?
Why are you having trouble scraping together a few grand for a trip, with that kind of cash flow. None of that makes any sense.

IF you mean that Monday payout wasn't made - well join the club. Ebay changed payouts several months ago where payouts from Thurs - Fri + Weekend Sales do not fully process and pend til Tuesdays now, having the paying of bulk of those orders being early Tuesday morn (between 1-3am) entering you bank on Wed following day (for most major banks). Use to be funds from sales Thurs-Fri all clear and be sent to bank on Mon, that stopped several months ago, it takes extra day now off the weekend to have all those funds from Thurs-Sun clear and be sent.

That's not a reason nor is that accurate. I've had deposits made every Monday through Friday since last September. I have sales almost everyday.
What day they are from doesn't matter when you are a business and have large sales.
Book keeping goes like this:
3 entries in books.
A.) Bank XXX
B.) Deposits (coming) XXX
C.) Pending XXX
Since 'fees' are already removed from these figures, book keeping is even easier:
1.) The 3 above are added together (A+B+C)= D
2.) subtract out shipping still needed from 'D'
3.) subtract out 25% from 'D' (or whatever you have calculated for taxes)
4.) subtract out XX% for cost of goods from 'D' (typically, margins are same- 50% of sale?)
5.) D -2 -3 -4 = "E" (Profit)
'E' above is what you can pay yourself (I do it on a weekly basis, every Sat morning)
['Pending and 'deposits coming' can go in the Taxes or Cost of Goods when those $ get here)
Called cash flow, quite easy and this seller should easily have $20k monthly cash flow with an average of $95k sales in a month- here alone.

I have enough cash reserves on hand from sales/profits that ebay/managed payments could DOUBLE the current processing time and i would be just fine.
How some people try to run a business with no cash reserves on hand is beyond me.

Some of my accounts are still on Paypal.
When I transfer funds from my account to my bank, which I have to do manually* as it is not automatic, PP tells me it can take 4-5 days to show in my account.
Or I can pay them a fee for same day transfers.
A delay between transfer day (apparently always Tuesdays, avoiding long weekends, so there's that) and arrival at the bank would seem unchanged with PP and MP.
*I actually would prefer manual transfers, but that's not the point.

Hate to tell you, but it is accurate. I've been in MP over a year and if read my post again you see I said that not all the funds from thurs and fri sales will be processed and paid out monday - don't believe me call managed payments and ask or just watch you MP processing funds over the weekend and you'll see. As for you accounting example, this isn't a matter of how YOU do your books or how YOU define "sales" - this is about Managed Payments and how funds from Thurs-Sun and processed, pending, and sent - and the fact is majority of them are processed, pending and sent on Tuesday's for months now. There will be a portion of those funds that will indeed clear and be sent on Monday's - but not all. I as well have payouts every Fri and Mon, that doesn't mean those payouts include all the funds from sales between Thurs and Fri because they don't.

Yes. And it doesn't matter which day of the week the payouts occur, and whether it is daily or weekly, if one is bringing in that much money in sales and has NO margin, where does it go? It's real easy to blame MP (which has problems, I'll admit) for one's own cash flow problems. It's like depending on free listings and credit card perks to get along - not a great idea.
ETA: And I've been stony broke and living hand to mouth before - when it came to business, I STILL made sure I had enough to pay expenses. I just ended up living on ramen for a week.

If you ever come back. With multiple $10k or $20k transfers a week. You sure it's not your bank doing the holds?
06-29-2021 03:14 AM
I thought that too, we have a threshold of 10K (money laundering laws etc) and verifications are done prior to release to any account - exactly the same with Paypal, could not transfer more than $9999.99 in one hit to our bank if we wanted it quickly
