@femmefan1946 wrote:Put a disclaimer in the description that you didn't add it and that it doesn't work.
Don't do this.
It is a negative statement and will turn off more customers.
Or deal with the on-going disruption of your listings.
Does this happen ten times a day?
Once a day?
Once a week?
All you have to respond with is "No thank you." You may have to do this up to three times, but usually once will do the trick.
Actually if you were getting BOs ten times a day, it might be a signal that there is a demand for your products but they may be a tad over-priced.
Check the price+ shipping of your competition.
The simple act of placing best offer on a buy it now listing all but guarantees potential buyers will not use the buy it now feature. Why would they when the listing screams "price negotiable"? If it were to happen to me I'll add the disclaimer without regard to who it turns off.

If you have a Best-Offer in you listing and respond with "No Thank You" to the same buyer that buyer will be frustrated.
But if you are not unwilling to consider a reasonable offer, you would be saying yes.
And since you don't want the guy who is offering 5% of the asking price any way, who cares?
If I read in a listing that the sellers best offer was not added by the seller, that the seller could not remove the best offer option and the Best Offer option didn't work
My philosophy is Buyers Don't Read.
(And actually, many sellers don't read either).
I am old and cynical.
the buyer will identify with the seller.
The buyer doesn't give a rat's patootie about the circumstances of the seller. Which is also why sellers should neve put any personal information or sob stories in the listing.
The simple act of placing best offer on a buy it now listing all but guarantees potential buyers will not use the buy it now feature.
I'm confused.
You can add a Buy It Now to an auction.
And you can add a Best Offer to a Fixed Price listing.
But a Fixed Price listing already has a Buy It Now.
And an Auction might end at a lower price than the maximum bid.
When could be have both BIN and BO on both Auction and Fixed Price listings?

eBay is forcibly altering your listing, without your knowledge. A best offer generally sets the premise to the buyer that the seller will accept less than the listed price... now it is setting that premise without the sellers' knowledge. I never agreed to recieve offers or make my items look less valuable. The fact they change it without our knowledge is the ultimate slap in the face. Like you don't matter at all.
"eBay has decided that they need to help low volume sellers sell and this is how."
They decided for me? They don't even know me. No one looked at the item, it's based on "on-site" time.
SOLVED Relist your items as "sell similar" So the algos don't know the site time and it doesn't trigger the auto update to recieve best offers...
eBay you a liar

HI~~Even though I can change it back to BINow, it changes the Perception(?) of the "Would be Buyer".
And makes it appear less valuable. I have seen "Watchers" delete their Watches.
This is tiresome, and uncalled for. I am Not a fulltime Lister/Seller. And don't have time for this. Also it eats up what time I do have, to list other items! I have PAID EBay for 8 yrs, and comply with their rules, and sport a 100 percent Feedback. (I have even given in, on items/subjects to Keep it 100 percent.)
So why are I and other "Faithful-Loyal" Sellers subject to this. Don't I/we pay EBay for the privaledge of listing ads ?? Ya know~~Over the last few months I've written on this subject and read others input on these pages---But is this another Waste of time?? Does EBay read these---do they act on it--do they reply --do they care ? Anyone know ? They also "Help (?) us now, on tellin us what it sells for, and if we don't..a Cool guage to tell us "Low Chance Of Selling" even though it is Not the exact item they compare ! They also "Help"(?) with tellin us postage, when they don't know our size/costs of mail bags, packing, and other items/costs, etc ! I think 8yrs of successful selling, shows I/we know how to list. **This whole "Forum" of us posting here is probably a Farse and waste...IE: EBay supplies us a useless Forum..to let us Vent to each other ?!? This selling for a few extra $Bucks is Work now, and the Fun is gone. I believe this may backfire. Good Luck Folks..............

EBay is not helping! They just aggravate Byers and Sellers! If I do not want BEST OFFER I am not going to accept any offers ANYWAY! I try to put fair price in order to SELL, not play games with Ebay tricks.
Or they FORCE us to make prices HIGHER?! and THEN play little games with customers to drop the price?

And on top ot all this, Ebay Prices for Similar Sold Items shows totally DIFFERENT ITEMS! They compare Rare Discontinued items with mainsteam ones! Like apples and oranges! And they are not ones who ship item or care how expensive shipping could be for large items!

Thank you so much for this. eBay is still defaulting to Best Offer included (Nov 2018), unless you go in and remove that option under additional options when posting. Once you realize this it is easy to remove it or create similar that does not have the option. I followed your directions and cleaned up my listings in minutes. Now it is easy.
Best, D

It's 2019 and Ebay is still slamming "best offers" down your throat when your not looking! I'm sure I'm not alone. I made a call, asked to speak with a supervisor to make sure my complaint went up the chain. After my call a full 24 hrs my listings stayed as I made them with out " best offer" . This leads me to believe that they can stall the automatic bot that does the Evil deed of modification. However it doesn't last, day two and It has started again. My take on why their doing this is; They don't care if you go bust ,they only care about generating daily sales quotas for their Fee income. Again, your survival is not important, the exploitation of sellers is the new formula for success. Companies like Walmart and Amazon have proven a great way of getting rich. Don't get me wrong, companies certainly have the right to try to make money. Unfortunately there are a group of Foreign sponsored sellers out there that haven't yet figured out that this best offer stuff will eventually run them down too. Please call and make your objection known, that's the only action other than leaving the platform.

I believe that is correct, IE: eBay only interested in steady Sales ,for flow of their $Money. But even with "That" reasoning I don't get their mindset, as by Me getting more $Dinero--translates to Them getting more $Frogskins ! When I was getting an Offer(s), before I could remove it, I had to turn down Offers~~Which in my opinion..loses "Potential Buyers" ! They don't return nor bid when I/WE turn them down or make counter offer ! I learned after a while to shorten the process of removing the "Make Offers". But still a Hassell, a lot of wasted time, etc. (Some of us have to work a job, etc) I wrote eBay many times asking them Not to interfere with Ads. No response, and never helped.
*Finally, on each time I responded to them~~ I stated that: "I Believe this IS Breach of Contract", and I want it stopped . Anyway, I haven't got the Interference for quite awhile now......I don't know if it was Because of this statement, but it has stopped (For now ?). Talking to my lawyer friend, he agreed ---This Is Breach Of Contract. IE: We agree to list Item, sell, pay them a Fee (s)..etc. We do/did Not agree to them Changing "OUR" Ad...…...etc.
Good Luck ~~Respond/reply to this Post---curious to what happens & results...etc. Thanx.

It was happening to my listings after only being on there for a week always while I slept would wake up to having to revise my listings back then next day they would do it all again. I never had time to list new items as always dealing with this complained several times by emails the phone call did the trick stopped for a few months till it started again and I'm dealing with it over Easter weekend so called them. They did it to a popular item so was given a low ball offer from one of my watchers which then had to block out of fear of negative feedback if he purchased it. So called Ebay again and got some woman placating to me telling me how to set the offer button. I said I don't want the F****** make an offer button full stop on it as it is a popular item that I can't keep up with the demand of popular you idiot that's been listed for only a couple of days. She then tells me she understands. I said bull**** I was promised this would stop that you went to IT to the supervisors to stop it was promised a phone call when fixed which did not receive. I tape my phone calls and he promised me. I said you understand money and because it didn't sell in your timeline you hacked my account without my permission and changed it. That is illegal! She does not respond. I said the next time they change my listings I get a low ball offer I will accept and call up to have you pay the difference as money is the only thing you learn from. Everytime you change a listing I'm calling up telling Ebay to put money in my account as they are costing me money everyday. She said nothing. I said then we have an understanding good I replied and said will call you soon when you revise my next listings with the amount you owe me. It's Easter Sunday and I've spent 5 hours on this it's absolutely bullsh**. They have got me so angry that the day of the Lord and I'm swearing!

I'm so sick of this whole issue that I just leave OBO on.
If I reject an offer and the buyer asks me why, I just tell them I only accept offers if they are buying a few items. If they balk, I tell them the truth that Ebay automatically adds OBO on some listings.
