EBay Forced Best Offer on my Buy It Now listings !

eBay has decided that they need to help low volume sellers sell and this is how.  They will continue to add it whether you like it or not.  Call CS and register your objection.  The only way this policy will change is those that are affected speak up.

EBay Forced Best Offer on my Buy It Now listings !

Hello--Thanx for your reply/input.  They started a "Chat" program (About time). It took about 1/2 hour to remove Best Offer from 1(one) listing.  She then just hung up---& I was able to go thru procedure to remove the other ones in 7 more listings.  Now I have to write every single one, & remove my notes explaining EBay "Forcing" & Not to "Make Offers".  What a hassell !****     I/we hope they don't continue this Junk.  I & others don't have time to fight this Constantly **!  Been sellin 8 yrs___Why the hassell ?  *If this continues, i will list less...and/or start investigating Other selling venues...  Are thier other people going thru this ?   Thank You again for your help/reply.    gscflash.

I'm getting the same game played on my listings like whack-a-mole. Revise one back to (buy it now) and another (make an offer) suddenly appears on another listing. Maybe I'm playing tug of war...NO it's Green Eggs and Ham. I do not like them when it's misting. I do not like them on my listing.

They're doing this to pacify the complainers who call about the inability to take down competitors listings by buying it and not making payment. This way they get out of the problem of Immediate Payment Required.

Just leave the Buy-It-Now but change the least amount you'll take to a penny less than your asking price. Put a disclaimer in the description that you didn't add it and that it doesn't work. Or deal with the on-going disruption of your listings.

Don't do this.

It is a negative statement and will turn off more customers.

Or deal with the on-going disruption of your listings.

Does this happen ten times a day?

Once a day?

Once a week?

All you have to respond with is "No thank you."  You may have to do this up to three times, but usually once will do the trick.

Actually if you were getting BOs ten times a day, it might be a signal that there is a demand for your products but they may be a tad over-priced.

Check the price+ shipping of your competition.

EBay Forced Best Offer on my Buy It Now listings !

HI-- It took along time, but I/we "Finally" solved it (For Now ?).   After a whole evening of me working on it--nothing seemed to work.  BUT now EBay has a "Chat".  So she helped me thru it.  Took quite a while the 1st time on one. Then I went thru the other 7 items/listings,by myself,  & removed all !   Again....For Now ?

If you want--I can walk you thru it....when I have the time.  *Let me know.   I will tell ya--one of the Key things, is on each listing, ya have to click "Change Listing Preferences"....etc.   Again let me know.

Maybe you, me, & others can work this out & fix...etc...    "So far" the listings are OK--- with NO "Make Offer, nor Best Offer. "   Was I helpful ?  Reply if & when you want.  Good Luck,    gscflash.

It's Good that EBay now has a "Chat"....it's about time !!  *****

Hello--- I originally Did just that.  But my brother, others & myself Agree...that it is a "Turn off' to would be Buyers.   Anything wierd or suspicious to them--they just move on to other "like items'...etc.

I FINALLY found a way to solve it...after a whole evening of no succes !    I fixed 8 listings, & "So Far" they are OK, & haven't returned to "Best Offer nor "Make Offer".    ***Plus I Didn't want this to follow me on future listings.  I placed 2 more items for sale , & so far...the problem hasn't returned !

I will walk you thru it, when I get time, if you want.   *Let me know.     Good Luck.           gscflash.

If you have a Best-Offer in you listing and respond with "No Thank You" to the same buyer that buyer will be frustrated.

If I read in a listing that the sellers best offer was not added by the seller, that the seller could not remove the best offer option and the Best Offer option didn't work the buyer will identify with the seller. I know this because I was the test seller for this scheme. It was two or three years ago I had this option added to my listing. When I went to remove it the check mark was greyed out. I learned to deal with this because I didn't want to remove the listing because I didn't want to lose the sold quantity.

The listing was for an item that I had bought 53 of, a whole pallet. My asking price was almost $200 each. I was the only seller with the item on eBay. There is now a seller selling the same item for over $1000 here on eBay.

eBay has no business interferring with the listing of one of its sellers. eBay is a venue. They have no idea how to list an item for sale. There is no one at eBay who can source, sell, and ship an item worldwide.  That is quite evident from the results of their interference, from the policies they dream up and support, and from the responses of their representatives here on this board.

I believe that the only way to remove the best offer option from listings is to start the listing again using the advanced listing tool.  However, you will need to start the listing over from scratch.  Of course, you'll need to end all the other listings first.

EBay Forced Best Offer on my Buy It Now listings !

Starting relisting over again isn't necessary.  I had this same unauthorized change made to one of my listings yesterday. Last night I revised the price. This morning I've spent over 2 hours looking through discussions. Finally was able to change it by going into sell an item, advanced tool, switch. Then go back to active items, select the item and revise it.
What a waste of time!!

After I did this, I replied to the e-mail that ebay sent me as follows:

Dear Ebay,

I can not even begin to tell you how upset I am that you made a change to my listing without consulting me. If I had wanted a BO, I would have set it up as one (even though you have made choosing sales format much more difficult with the current template for listing). I had the price set on this bottle of Chanel No 5 EXACTLY where another one, according to lowest price advanced search of sold items, with the same volume and type had recently sold. This is my merchandise, not yours and I am the one who pays you fees, not vice-versa. Last night I noticed the email and revised the price upward to make up for this irresponsible behavior of yours. This morning I have spent over 2 hours trying to figure out what to do, searching comments, etc. I am further aggravated by the fact that you are doing this to small sellers. Shaking my head over your arrogance in changing my listing without my authorization, along with so many other sellers. I have to wonder about the legality of you doing such. Do you think that sellers won't look elsewhere to sell their merchandise without such interference and possibly with lower fees?  Now that I've managed to change this listing back to what I WANT, I would appreciate if you did not change any more of my listings without my permission.

Hello-- Ya Don't need to Relist !  *I spent a whole evening tryin to fix---NADA.  Then next day (Instead of goin to work) I was determined...& got a Solution !   *The 1st one I changed took awhile..trial & error.  I wrote down my procedure, then I fixed all 8 listings with "Make Offer" !   *I don't have time to write everone with this, so YOU or someone should POST somewhere, where eveyone can read/benefit !! Please.   Here goes:   **Click on "Selling".  Scroll to the item. On far right- click "More Actions", then click "Revise".  Now at top Right, click "Change Listing Preferences".  Scroll ALL THE WAY down to very bottom, click "Enable More Options", then click "Save".  Now- scroll down to "Pricing" section (Below Auction Bid) is a "Allow Offers" box, UNCHECK (remove) this.  *Scroll to bottom, & click "Revise It"  !!   >>That's it.  Sounds complicated..but I ain't no wizard !    After 1st time it got easier/faster.  **Now "I" wrote this procedure down, so I would do all 8 listings the same.  *I added 2 more listings at BINow, & so far..No Problem. ** Can YOU or Someone POST this where others can see ? I am Not a good Writer/Poster/Problem Solver/ etc.(Ha-Ha)..   What a hassell...we shouldn't have to do this. I think EBay may have come close to ....well, I won't say. BUT they should have at least helped us "Peons"...etc.

I Hope I helped...send reply if & when ya want.   ****Good Luck~~~~~~~~~gscflash.
