There several Ebay Violations occurring with Clearly Listed Antiques and returns by Buyers.
EBAY Guarantee unless STATED CLEARLY in the listing " Sold As Is " ( No Returns Accepted )
I just had person with a great score Bid & Win a $3,100. Vase just to pass judgement on the Vase and/or to Damage the Vase just to pass judgement on it when he received item with no intention of keeping the item he purchase from the start. He is also a competitor. I honestly believe in all my heart he just wanted to stick it to me and pick the Vase apart to return it and Black Ball the Vase from any future auctions on Ebay.
I'm just putting this out on the board... I am not going to be replying to comments.
Thank you for your time,
Paulli

Did not have any chips... Buyer went out of his way to look for a problem for a return from the start and found a feather. The question remains if he intentionally did the damage. It was with no doubt an Ebay violation.

You can say that if you want. The terms are not enforceable here. eBay will not back you up.

Whenever I add "Sold As Is" in a listing, it usually means the item has some flaws that I have mentioned. You rarely see that in something flawless, and I will not recommend adding it to a listing where the item has no flaws.

It's not a violation for a buyer to check the item for defects.
If I paid that much, I would be looking the vase over with a microscope.

The problems is a person can come up with anything. That's why I write as is not because there is a defect.

How would the buyer damage it that way?
When you know glass it is not hard to do... Old items, just slightly bang it around until there is a feather in the glass... This would not affect the outside glass if done right. I know to do it and I am sure he does too.

His problem is he left a external Glass shard in one of the pictures he sent proving he deliberately banged it around.

It is a Violation when he damages the item causing a feather.

There was not a feather in the vase when I sent it.

NO RETURNS does not mean NO REFUNDS.
The real question is -- who will pay for return shipping ?
The seller is always allowed to demand that the item be returned,in the same condition it was sent, even if his policy is No Returns.
Demand the return.
Pay for tracked return shipping if necessary.
Block the customer.
Relist with adjusted description.
You can appeal the decision if what you get back is not what you sent.
This is business, not personal.

I'm confused by the post you chose as the solution. I'm also confused as to why you (as an experienced seller) would state that listing "as is" and with a no return policy negates ebay's guarantee.
The vase is beautiful, and I'm not a glass person, but I don't think seeing 100 photos would show me if it is damaged or not. That's a busy pattern that only touch could reveal the true condition. So, that's on you when you list, since a buyer has to depend on that knowledge.
