I suddenly started to see this abomination again on all items, including mine. What's going on, I thought they gave up this demented idea long time ago????

This did NOT work for me. I removed all cookies and I still get the same dreaded box. Customer support is clueless.
It is a test. I confirmed that with an eBay CS on the Ebay for Business Facebook page so I'm guessing that the CS people you call on the phone were not told about this.
FYI I did look at some listings with Edge rather than Firefox and I did not see the Full Item Description button there but I don't know how long that would have stayed that way if I did a lot of looking at various listings on Edge.

Hopefully, you told the CS rep that this "test" is universally hated and we want to go back in time!
I did tell her that the page that is served up when you click the button is horrible. I'm not sure about the CS people who work on the Ebay For Business Facebook page on the weekends ... I did not recognize her name as one I'm familiar with.

I have been dealing with it for a day now on my desktop and I have to say, I detest it. Double work to see and close a listing.
Ebay, this idea may work for brand new, manufactured items. Its not working so well for used or vintage items.
Its obvious where they are going with this but even on Amazon I avoid buying used as I cant see a picture of the actual item I am buying. Just like the ebay catalog, for a used item, if thats the only picture a seller here on ebay uses, I wont buy from them. I want to see what I am buying. I actually paid more for a book I wanted here on ebay from a seller that took their own pictures. Amazon had many copies as did ebay. But what I wanted was a mint copy of this out of print book. (And No, after receiving several copies of the book that sellers said were mint and was not even close, I dont want to keep sending stuff back!) so I paid more, seller showed several pictures and I was very happy to get it. Its a Buyer experience thing.
Please stop making it harder for me to find and buy stuff.

And what in the world is up with the small blurb of the description showing the first line of each paragraph? It turns the description into gibberish.

This is for tiny screen smart phones...right? that's what 75% people use nowadays to BROWSE items on eBay to purchase in the USA ...I think....I may be wrong.
I used to get a summary from Ebay that gave me a percentage of buyers that purchased through mobile and it never was close to 75%. More like 30%. Havent seen that report in a while though.
Even when I use my iphone, I go through Google and switch ebay to the Classic Site mode. I really dont like the app.
Even if its for the app, cripes, test the thing first. I have been playing around with my listings to see what make it show the information I want instead of what ebay think should be shown. All I can say is its messed up.

Yep, it was a dismal failure last time so let's go through it again and expect a different outcome.

What you have is the wrong people running the company all across the top of eBay.
This is another Yahoo story, Yahoo ruined the company when they inserted ads into their email platform which was their main product and service, eBay is doing the very same thing here, just a matter of time before eBay becomes the next Yahoo because this group of executives will not listen to their customers, Yahoo had no regard for their users either.
All they want sellers to do is to pay them 295 bucks to go to Las Vegas so they can teach you how to buy promoted listings to make big money on eBay.

I doubt it's a test......if you can get out of it simply by clearing cookies........more likely a screwup in last nite's maintenance.
@Anonymous can you tell us whether it's a test or not?
Hey everyone, I can confirm that this is not a test and these changes were announced in the Spring 2016 Seller Update. See: http://pages.ebay.com/sellerinformation/news/sprupd16/view-item.html#tab=whats-new for more details on this and: http://pages.ebay.com/sell/itemdescription/customizeyoursummary.html for more info on customizing the description your buyer's see. Our customer service team will be happy to help if you have further questions about your listings.

@Anonymous
Then why did the Ebay person who answered my question on the Ebay For Business Facebook page say they checked into it and that it was a test? You guys all need to get on the same page!
And if it is going to be normal then why was I able to delete all my Ebay cookies and get rid of it?
By the way, it is beyond horrible! The page that opens up when you click the View Button opens into a generic page that sometimes is lacking all formatting, spread clear across my 23" in monitor and looks very unprofessional.

Wrong people running the marketplace, there is nothing you can do about it, there is no reason for sellers to even care about what happens to eBay any longer, we are wasting our time.
