I suddenly started to see this abomination again on all items, including mine. What's going on, I thought they gave up this demented idea long time ago????

this is simply not correct. My listing having no active content (like java scripts) inside, and you technically not able to list something that "not complain" with listing requirement.
@chicologne you can scan your listings yourself and see what the problems are. As I said, the scanner found off-eBay links and http links (not active content):

Yes, eBay does allow you to list them, but if you have non-secure http links, then your description will not be displayed without clicking the button.
If you have more questions about how to fix your listings, the Replacing Active Content is the best place to go for help. @shipscript very kindly developed and shared the scanning tool, and she is very active on that board.

This is a nightmare!! I can just see all of the "not as described" cases to come. Buyers don't read now (I know, I've worked in retail over 40 years) are they really going to take an extra step to actually read the full description??? NO! Another "fix" for something that's not broken.

I am just about at the end of my rope with eBay.
They already make it almost impossible to make a profit, impossible avoid getting scammed,
and now it's more difficult for buyers to read your **bleep** description?
What possible benifet could this button have for anyone?
I'm calling tomorrow and demanding they remove it from my listings or I'm out.

It's also REALLY cute the way the full description box strips away your store listing frame.
There is NOTHING in my listings which doesn't 'comply' with all the bleep they say this is to guard against.
My description is NOTHING but freaking text.

I honestly don't know. Almost everything done here lately has that taint of "Yeah, that's your reason for it", but almost none of it stands up to a simple "Why?" or "What were you thinking?".
I've got 81 listings being flagged for COMMENTED OUT tracking tag lines with http that I left in for reference reasons. And the bulk editor isn't working for me - none of the changes I try to make take. I suspect all of my listings have the descriptions hidden and are trashed in placement. Probably spend most of the night tonight manually reworking them one by one (for the 3rd time).

I list via Turbo Lister and have discovered that any listing that has more than one self hosted picture in the listing has the dreaded FDL button. With only one picture (that automatically uploads to the eBay server) I am AOK.
So I ran a test listing and changed my picture preference to use Ebay Hosting Services, uploaded multiple pictures and the regular full listing showed fine without the dreaded button.
Looks like you can't have anything attached to your listing from an outside source (aka not uploaded to eBay servers) and it should be OK -
Just another wrinkle of something new to learn and slow down the listing process as self picture hosting is sooooooo much faster than the eBay process - (bulk upload vs one at a time)......

It's like a dealer selling a new car but telling the buyer it's in the basement parking garage, we can't show it to you, but no need to worry?
