Downside of Buyer Initiated Offers?

Now that this feature has grown some legs, I have to say that it has changed the way many eBay buyers shop, including myself. All one has to do is click on an item (even if to enlarge it) to receive a lower offer. If you're a seller of collectibles like me, then you're receiving numerous offers daily due to comping items of your own. Yes, you can keep clearing your "Recently Viewed" list in "My eBay" to at least slow them down. However, it's like trying to keep the mosquitos out of the house!

Here are my questions... (especially to those in the collectible categories)

1) Has this been a good thing for Sellers?

2) What affect has this had on "Best Offers"?

3) How has it affected your overall item values?

Downside of Buyer Initiated Offers?

I use the offer to buyers, but I don't like it that they now include anyone who even glanced at my items. I'm afraid I'm just bugging them.

And I really dislike receiving offers for items I just looked at and didn't watch. When I get a notification that I have an offer, it's now for things I comped, not my items. They need to change it back.

I agree. I'm getting so many that I don't even read them, and just delete. I'm afraid the benefits of this feature have been outweighed by the annoyance.
