Anyone know how many nonpayments on can have before e-bay kicked them off the site? I am not asking how many they don't pay before they limit account. Had a buyer 5 nonpayments on my auction reported all 5, buyer paid for one. Several other sellers put positive feedback with negative remark, so total nonpayments 12. Seems customer service agents are not fourth coming on the information. Anyone have idea???

I dont think there is any type of penalty for unpaid items. Ebay does not care about that.

Except they allow you to automatically block buyers with 2 or more unpaid item strikes in a 12 month period, so, yeah they kinda care.

eBay used to have a "3 strikes and you're out" policy, but it disappeared at about the same time as eBay introduced the option which enables sellers to automatically block bidders/buyers who have excessive unpaid item strikes. You can set it up here:

OP asked how many before a buyer gets kicked off the site. EBay does not care how many transactions they don't pay for. They are not kicking the buyer off the site.

Thanks I have done so. Just have had so many non payment buyers. I remember 3 strikes your out policy. We can block buyers but too bad other sellers do not have gage of buyers that bid and didn't pay. Feedback for sellers was a good tool.

I agree. Sad other sellers cannot get gage on buyers that won and did not pay for items. Miss feedback for sellers. Was a good gage for me as a seller and at least could see buyers history.

@fuchi888
That is something eBay will not disclose. So long as sellers complete the "non-paying buyer" form (available after 96 hours) the non-payer will get a 'strike' that will limit their ability to bid or buy from many sellers (See message #3 be @doc-holmes )
There seem to be new exceptions to this with regard to cancellation requests. It appears that so long as a buyer requests a cancellation on time, they don't have to pay and will be exempt from non-payment strikes whether or not the seller agrees to cancel or declines. Feedback can be left regardless. Interesting:
https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/When-did-eBay-start-allowing-non-paying-bidders-to-leave/td-p/...
There was a buyer that posted to the boards a few years back that was wondering why she got a restriction. Turns out she had 30 unpaid strikes in a month. Her 'restriction' was she was not allowed to buy for a few days or a week. She simply didn't understand, and said "but I did pay for the things I really wanted".
In the past month or so there have been a couple of buyers that have been restricted from bidding on auctions. They are only allowed to use fixed price listings. How many strikes it took for this to be enacted will not be known.
eBay is not big on sanctioning buyers who don't follow the rules.

Just curious is there a reason you are running auctions instead of fixed price listings? Many buyers hate auctions because they don’t want to wait for the auction to end to see if they the winner?

Yes, but you said there was no penalty. I was just pointing out there kinda was one. It's not a full ban, but it's something.

@gurlcat
LOL...are years old archived threads even searchable? You can look yourself, as I basically suck at searching these forums. I do know it was on the Buying Board, and I did pay for the things I really wanted would be close to an exact quote. Some things just stick in your mind, ya know? I am REALLY an eBay dinosaur from the days when buyers actually had to pay or got booted for real. Your fourth neg from different sellers was the end of you or a rating of MINUS 4.
We used to have a poster that prided himself on maintaining a Minus 3 rating, just for fun.

Roger that.
