Hello. I shipped via USPS GA. The tracking had an alert because it was out for delivery on Saturday but was not delivered.
I called the post office today and they thought it would be delivered today.
i then reached out to the buyer to inform them of my conversations and to let me know if it arrives.
They informed me they did receive it, but tracking has never been updated. I think the carrier just never scanned for delivery on Saturday.
Is this an issue? Is there something I should do? In other words, will a bot pick up the hanging tracking and give me a ding?
Thanks

You can try filing a package Trace on USPS's web site, I don't know exactly how to get to that specific claim, I have used the missing mail piece feature in the past when a package gets tuck.
What state did this happen in? I've seen a number of issues in Florida where scans never happened at the delivery address ... it happened to me where tracking NEVER updated.
This may be a growing issue and I think you hit the nail on the head, the carrier is NOT scanning at the delivery address and with volumes increasing this fall leading up to the holidays it will get worse.
If the Buyer files a claim that they did not receive their item within 30 days of the estimated delivery you will lose the claim, the Buyer will be refunded and allowed to keep the item even if they left Feedback and messaged you that they received the item. You will have to try and appeal eBay's decision and speak to a rep to try and get the claim closed in your favor. Once the Buyer is refunded that's pretty much the end of it.
On day 4 of the not received claim you can ask for an extension and eBay will grant 10 days ...

There is no issue.
Only issue would be losing INR protection.

@mirror-in-the-attic what i would do>
since u have the message from the buyer that they rec'd it, call the post office and ask them to update the tracking.
also ask the buyer if they 'decide' to leave u feedback, will they plz include that they rec'd the item.
sounds redundant, but this will help protect u for just in case.

Good grief. That’s ludicrous if the buyer says in a message they received the item it’s proof of delivery.
OK. I will have to look into this further then.
It was NC.

No, you should be done looking into it and should not be searching for issues like this in the future. This is a poking the bear issue. Lots of packages end up missing that final scan for whatever reason, and letting the buyer know that is also letting the buyer know that they can get all their money back and keep the item.
From a business perspective the best thing you can do is forget about that package completely the second it leaves your person, following up on it for any reason only invites trouble.

I was just watching your YT video. Lol like just now and had a laugh at your unfortunate neg experience.
To clarify, the negatives aren’t funny, your deadpan delivery is. I hope you can get them removed.

I agree 150% ... here we are doing out part selling and shipping and then for a route carrier not to scan a package delivered eBay's system will let the Buyer keep the item and the money even if the package is delivered late (after the claim period) or tracking never updates to show delivered.
Mine was a total sale around $ 210.00, it went to a Freight forwarding company in Florida, Miami area. On day three of the Buyer's claim I called the forwarding company, they were nice and said they already sent the package to the Buyer in Panama AND had their delivery confirmation (which is different then mine to them). I messaged the Buyer letting them know I spoke to their forwarding company and know the item was delivered and would they close the claim. Fortunately they did but some won't. Weeks late tracking STILL did not update and never will because it was never scanned delivered.
Another Seller here had a similar issue, but their forwarding company didn't speak English and hung up on them ... fortunately they convinced eBay that the package was ultimately delivered and got credit for the sale.
This situations will grow worse the closer we get to the holidays when shipping volumes double and triple.

I’m happy it worked out for you. I don’t want to think about mail issues over the holidays. 🫣

I had the same thing happen last year. Tracking never updated to 'delivered.'
It was no issue at all! If I recall I did file a missing package on the website but that didn't go anywhere. I waited a little while to email the buyer (since so many PO deliveries are delayed). When I did finally contact her, she told me it had arrived the week before. She never left any feedback but since I had the email and it sounded like she was pleased with the order ... I left it alone. The only thing I did was save that email. It never did update but it turned out fine. I wouldn't worry.

Never message the buyer for any reason.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but even if the buyer messaged you that tney received the item and mentioned that they received the item on feedback, if the buyer files a INR and you don't have a tracking number that says "delivered" you're screwed.

I wouldn't depend on it that's for sure.
It's evidence to make a case. Try and get eBay to take the sellers side.
But what if they say they made a mistake and they got the sellers mixed up. The one that got delivered was from a different seller.
I wouldn't bank on a verbal message as coverage.

I try not to look at tracking, since it usually just causes anxiety. I know if there is a problem, I'll hear about it soon enough and I definitely don't tip off a buyer if they haven't reached out to me first.
