I have heard talk about a new place called Pirate Ship for discounted shipping costs. Does anyone use it and what are your thoughts? And is there a way to connect it to eBay for shipping costs?

I use Pirate ship for my other sites I sell on. The costs are about the same as ebay offers. So far, easy to use and no problems.

I use Pirate ship. It’s very easy to use. And yes you can integrate it with eBay for your USPS and UPS shipping needs.

Been using it for YEARS.
They download your eBay sales and upload the tracking numbers - both automatically.
They have much cheaper rates for international. They offer Cubic Pricing which charges postage based on the size of the box not the weight much like USPS Flat Rate pricing. This is especially useful on boxes under 1/2 of 1 cubic foot. Much like Flat Rate boxes the weight is irrelevant.
Unlike USPS flat rate which requires you use specific post office boxes cubic rate can use ANY box giving you much more flexibility. Some (but in fairness not all) Priority Mail is cheaper than eBay even when factoring in a TRS+ discount.. On those where it is not cheaper it is the same.
Offers Parcel Select cubic pricing while eBay does not offer it at all.
Door door tracking on all international shipments unlike the USPS which does not do that for all countries.
Tracking proof of delivery is kept forever,. unlike USPS and eBay which only holds if for 90 days. Especially helpful on longer term credit card charge backs for not received.
A very helpful and knowledgeable and very quick response chat box.
AND there is NEVER any membership fee unlike some other services.

Like the others that have already commented I utilize Pirate Ship for some of my shipping needs. While they are about the same discounted rate as eBay for domestic they offer several shipping options like priority mail cubic that eBay does not.
While I do not utilize UPS all that often I would NEVER purchase a UPS label through eBay those purchases are based totally on an estimate and you can get hit with unilateral charges from UPS, which eBay takes directly from your account, once the package is delivered. When you use UPS on Pirate Ship that is not a concern and I have NEVER bit hit with a unilateral charge from Pirate ship. Following is a link to some of the USP surcharges for 2023.

It’s not that new.
I use it mostly for cubic rate shipping, parcel and priority that ebay doesn’t offer.
no way to connect it to ebay to see that price while your working on a listing but you can connect it so the tracking number automatically uploads to ebay when you buy a label.
I use two monitors so I just have it open on one monitor while working on creating a listing or when I am shipping.

You're forgetting one important thing. They talk funny like a pirate. That alone should be reason enough to make the shift.

Aye, Yo Ho Ho to that!
I usually use eBay for USPS Priority Mail. Prices for USPS Priority are usually the same as Pirateship or about 1% cheaper. For other USPS mail services, I may use Pirateship and use their insurance (for more expensive items).
I use Pirateship for small heavy objects using Cubic Pricing (which eBay does not offer). Possibility for great savings.

I have been using PirateShip.com to ship all of my ebay orders for the last 3 years and I love it. 90% of the items I ship weigh 10-20 lbs and on PirateShip, I am able to ship a 20lb package to Buckland Alaska for $10.85.

Yes, I only use it for international because the simple export rate unbeatable up to 4 pounds. Not to mention the boost in international sales I got when I started using it.
Other than that, the rates are pretty much the same as eBay except for the parcel select cubic.
