Does a ridiculously low offer justify a block?

Buy it now price: $26.  S&H price: $10.85

This listing explains that the actual shipping cost is $10.85 so i make no money on the shipping.

I don' accept offers but a received a ebay message today that simply says:

Offer: $10.00 plus $7.00 shipping

I responded with: Hello, Thanks for your offer but i am not excepting offers on this item. Have a nice day and stay safe!

The only question is, would  you block this buyer?

Actually, you are losing $1.85 on shipping. Ebay charges 10% of the total amount collected. If there is tax collected, you lose 10% of that too. Plus the other fees involved.

Block em. You don't need this type of buyer. Maybe they'll learn when they see they are blocked from harassing you.

Plus, if you take them up on such types of offers, especially since you do not have a best offer in place.....what will happen after the sale and you ship the item to this type of buyer!? This is a red flag to me and would have no hesitation in blockage. Do all sellers a favor and block. Say "Good Riddance!"

Thanks. I know that. On this item i make enough on the item itself to cover those fees and more.

Hi, if you are incorporating the fees into your item price, why not incorporate the entire shipping expense, this way if you are asked to do a return, they will have to pay return shipping the same as received so won't know the high price of shipping until they want to return the item. Just a thought and I think is why ebay suggests sellers do this. The only way you would have to cover return shipping is if you say you do, or if the person claims damaged.

I would not block the buyer unless he continued to make low offers or harass me in some other way. I assume this offer came via a message and not through best Offer since shipping is not negotiable via BO. I would not set up BO on any item where the acceptable BO price would be under $25.

Since in your scenario the return is for remorse (only time the buyer has to pay return shipping), if you offer free shipping then you will lose that initial shipping cost.   On a remorse return a seller can keep the initial shipping cost if it is charged separately, so won't lose shipping coming or going.   This isn't possible with free shipping.

not in my opinion, I've had ones that low and been able to bring about a worthwhile sale.......  Every time, no, but enough times I counter every offer........

yes- why waste your time by letting it continue.

If it's one low offer, I wouldn't block. If it's continuous, then it's time to block, nobody has time for that. Alternately, you can set your listing to automatically decline an offer under a certain amount, it saves time and frustration.

when I read this, first impressions  I got was this buyer doesnt understand how best offer works. It could be they think it means negotiating even the  shipping. The person  may need best offer  explained to them

Thats just where my mind went when reading about it.

Judge not others by your own limitations

I agree. I don't block unless it's very bad.

Many people feel good even if they can get a little off the list price. Maybe tell them $35 shipped is the best you can do. They will feel they got a deal and you will have made a sale close to your price. Win win.

Trust your instinct. If you have to ask this question then you already know the answer.

Respect is an important thing and it is not bad to alert people they have overstep. Do other Seller a favor too by doing this or this person will continue to do it. It is one thing to make a fair offer but for people to lowball like this is a disrespect and an insult
