After 20+ years on ebay, I recently decided to finally get a ebay store. I got it only for the discounts and perks and no other reason.
I personally don't browse sellers ebay stores or look at what other items they have for sale. I just buy what i want and move on.
Many other sellers assured me that many shoppers DO browse sellers ebay stores. I was skeptical.
The other day i had a customer buy 2 TOTALLY DIFFERENT items from me. Proof that customers do browse. I was pleasantly surprised and i am now a believer.

I have often sold multiple items from different categories to buyers. So yes, they do browse like in a B&M store. I also get many return buyers.
I opened my store for the same reasons you did. I did the math and could see I would be saving quite a bit on my listings by opening a store. I have kept my store open for some six years now. I typically make back my store fees within just a few days of the month.

Just one of the problems I think sellers have........assuming that "everyone" thinks/acts the way they do.......

People browse your listings whether you have a store or not.

I primarily sell sea shells and often listed some other items here and there from cleaning out closets.
I debated for two years about opening a store. Like you , I decided to open a store for the discounts and perks and no the reason.
The results shocked me. I have lots of repeat sea shell customers that were also buying my other items because they were happy with my customer service, my timeliness to deliver quickly and the quality of my items. I strted receiving messages from them stating that they love browsing my store because you never know what you may find. I was skeptical at first because sea shells and anything else is a strange mix. I chanced it and it paid off.
I received so many great compliments, I increased the quantity of items and categories in my store. So for me the store was a good decision and has helped me sell more items.
So beleive it or not, buyers do browse your store!

Last week I had a buyer purchase an item and then say: "I'm going to look through your other items before I pay, in case I see something else I like" even though I do not have a store.
And yesterday, I won an auction and emailed the seller to say "I was looking through your other auctions, and I will be bidding on a couple other items that end in the next two or three days" even though he did not have a store.
So I guess what I am saying is that you don't have to have a store for buyers to browse your listings. It has probably happened to you many times in the past even without your store.

I've had a few customers that browsed specifically so they could get combined shipping and save some money. Hawaii and Alaska customers especially.

If a seller has things I like and they have well done listings*, I will absolutely browse their other items whether they have a store or not.
*well done listings - listings that actually have a description (sorry, see pics is NOT a description) and are not full of TOS, unfriendly terms, rants about how bad Ebay sux or how this item is relisted because some wingnut flaked on you, tons of flashing, scrolling or otherwise distracting and ugly templates.

Yah it's not the same as hanging out at Walmart with a pooter.

Yep, my customers definitely browse my store, and they often make purchases for multiple items, like 3 or 4 games or movies at a time. If you run sales promotions, ebay then creates a link from your listings so buyers can see all items that are available within that promotion.
Another way to tell people are browsing is when I list a lot of new items for sale, all of a sudden the older items have more watchers.

22 years and have never browsed a person's store. Then again when I come looking for something I type the exact item I want. If a good price I buy it and move on. My guess is very few buyers waste time browsing Ebay seller's stores.

Not too many but occasionally we'll get half a dozen sales from someone who obviously browsed. Seems to happen more often when people are looking for Christmas gifts.

People browse my store quite often - in fact, I have regular customers who regularly 'waste time' 🙄 looking for great bargains and combined shipping.

congrats on getting your store! I got one over two years ago and customers definitely browse our stores! Most of my business evolved into repeats from those who browse and come back! Building that base gets you through the down times for sure!
